All the Blue in the Sky (Book Review)

I just finished the novel "All the Blue in the Sky" by Mélissa Da Costa. It was a really touching book.
The story is about Emile, a 26 year old man diagnosed with young alzheimer. His docter gave him just two more years. In these years his memory would get worse and worse.
Faced with his limited time and because he doesn't want to end his life withering away in the hospital, he decides to leave behind his life and embark on a camper van journey across France.
He places an ad online to find a travel companion for his last journey. Against his expectations there is one reaction on the ad.

Without saying goodbye to his family (because they wouldn't agree with his plan anyway) he picks up Joanne a 29 year old and a bit peculiar woman. She is very silent, is completely dressed in black has no problem going on an adventure with a stranger.

Along the way Emiles conditions get worse, but he and Joanne get to know each other better. Along the way you get to know more about Emile and Joanne and why they are how they are. They both enjoy the beauty of the Pyrenees. Joanne helps Emile rediscover the beauty of life and hope.

The book is full of beautiful quotes about life and life lessons. It is about the importance of embracing the present moment, having meaningful connections, and finding beauty and purpose in life.

I'd love to read this one! I think this book will get personal to me because a family member of mine is suffering through that. Alzheimer's definitely teach us about embracing present and little moments we have. Thanks for sharing this beautiful book with us!

The synopsis makes me intrigued already. Although I haven't been close to someone diagnosed with Alzheimer, I can't imagine how saddening it must me for his family and friends. This is a nice review.

My best mate's Dad has alzheimers. He and her mother were sitting in the back garden watching the sun going down having a beer and a wine when I visited last. I turned and said to my mate that it was very sweet. She laughed and said 'Don't think they're making any sense!'.

Even in times like that you need humour.

Humor can be a great medicine.
But it's a terrible disease :(

It is. And everyone knows someone who has suffered because of it. I didn't mean to sound flippant.
