Chasing Dreams: A Journey Through The Alchemist

(edited)

So guys imagine a book so simple that it reads like a fable that is whispered by a fire, but within its plain words, is an ocean of meaning swirls. That simple book is Paulo Coelho's book he titled "The Alchemist."

This powerful book is all about Santiago who is a shepherd boy with a restless heart. His dreams pulled him from his Spanish flocks to riches that were hidden near the Egyptian pyramids. So Santiago decided to embark on this journey, trading his sheep for camels to cross continents that were guided by the wind and stars.

His journey was not actually the typical tourist journey since he had to stumble into so many dangers. He got robbed, fell in love with a desert girl named Fatima, and even chatted with an alchemist. Life kept throwing different things at him, testing his spirit like a sand that's swept by the wind.

But Santiago's was indeed so courageous. He listened to his heart like a wild horse galloping towards its destiny. He learned to read omens in desert sands, befriended a kind crystal merchant, and faced his fears on a war-torn tribal battlefield.

Believe me when I tell you that Paulo Coelho made every step in this book sing with his storyteller's magic. His words were as clear as thr desert skies and they carried whispers of ancient wisdom. He reminded us that:

  1. Our dreams matters and we should chase them like butterflies because they might lead us to buried treasure of any kind.
  2. We should always listen to our heart since it's our compass, our inner star, even if it leads us to scary places.
  3. We should learn to pay attention to omens, coincidences, and those who touch our path since they don't happen by accidents.
  4. We should love deeply even amidst desert sands since it will end up blooming like a desert rose.
  5. Even though fear is normal, we should learn to face it head-on, like a warrior that's embracing a battle.
  6. We all have a unique path, a calling, a reason to be. We need to find ours and then walk through it with fire in our belly.

So guys, the Alchemist is a compass, not a GPS so don't expect a detailed road map since it doesn't tell you what to do but it ignites a spark within. Seeing Santiago face obstacles should be able to make your own fears seem less intimidating. Hearing him talk to his heart should make you remember to listen to your own heart.

Some persons feel this book is not a perfect book since they find it simple while others find it moralistic. But isn't that the beauty of simplicity since it reaches the raw core of what matters? This is a book that will make you laugh, cry, and maybe even dust off your own forgotten dreams. So what's not perfect about the book?

So if you long for an adventure that stirs your soul, if you yearn for a reminder that life is a grand treasure hunt, then hop on Santiago's camel and ride. Just remember that the real treasure might not be gold buried in Egypt, but the gold you find within yourself.
