HIVE? Buzzin or slothin?

Good afternoon buzzers, an interesting morning reading some Hive content. As I've said the last couple of days, I'm chasing the buzz here again, again, again, again! The sloth who repeats himself indeed! But it's true, sometimes Hive makes life a struggle. And today I've seen a bunch of posts that echo similar experiences.

Much like the post from Slothbuzz, explaining the current lul in slothing activities here on hive Read slothbuzz post. Other users seem to be having similar thoughts. Bradley has also had some outpost issues, and it's brought questions about whether he's even still here? Read bradleys post. Bitcoinman is ded! Well, he's struggling with Hive of late Read bitcoinman's post. He further expresses this with the recent DUO post Read the DUO post

On the flip side, some users have seen the negativity and are pushing with positive vibes, trying to make changes and build Hivians up! (As it should be!). Curamax asks how we can change the downvote structure or make Hive more alluring for the general user, deflecting from the negative connotations of downvoting Read Curamax's post and Brofund looks ahead, starting over, building from the bottom up! I was going to tag each of those users and hopefully increase my engagement here, but I think focusing on 'natural' growth and engagement is more productive. It's easy to tag people and capture their attention for a few seconds, but I'd much rather be found naturally and genuinely elicit a thoughtful response.

I'm still passionate about Hive, I was late to the party, one might say sloth like! After all, slothly does it, right? I have my sloth days and my buzzy days, but overall, I support the concept of Hive. The possibilities for community building and growth. The ability to monetise your content, to find your niche and push forward with your love of creating. Whether that be as a blogger, photographer, artist, streamer or a multitude of other possibilities. Hive offers something for everyone. Developers can develop, builders can build. Experts can engrain facts into blockchain, FOREVER!

Of course, money is involved. People will try to 'cheat' the system, earn more for themselves. Some will become money-focused, solely concerned with growing their bags even at the expense of others. Some will simply fall prey to scams or be enticed into schemes that negatively impact them in the long run.

We all have a unique experience with Hive and a distinct vision of what Hive means to us. So, what is Hive to you? Is it just a place to earn? A place to be social and make friends? A place to vent and complain? A place to create, build and grow?

Can we turn Hive into a place for the many, not the few? Can we open the doors to attract more users? What would this look like? What needs to happen? How can the little sloth make a difference in a world controlled by whales?

As the old saying goes, the people have the power. We control the whales, but only if we come together, are not shunned, and are not forced into a niche. We need to work collectively, even within a decentralised system, to ensure power is with the people. What can we do to support each other further, the little guys, to grow and flourish? Hive can only work with users who participate in and utilise the technology and tools to expand the ecosystem and community further. How do we overcome the hurdles that slow us down and chase people away?

Until next time,
Sloth out
