I don't really pay much attention to market cap. It's not something I really understand since I don't really do much with trading or any of that.

Think of market cap is what you project (coin) is worth overall. Just because Solana issues more tokens doesn't make it worth any more unless they deliver more value in some way. Issuing more tokens makes the price per token go lower while market cap stays the same.
