Auld Lang Syne

I almost thought about putting this post in the "reflections" community that @tarazkp started a while ago, but since it is going to be less true reflection, and more sharing the output from one of the newest tools on HIVE, I figured I should probably just throw it here in The Pub.

If you have been following my posts, you know the holiday season didn't go exactly as expected for me. I spent a large majority of it sitting at home alone trying to keep whatever sparse food I had just eaten in my body. After all the festivities were over, I did get a chance to spend some time alone with @mrsbozz and our grand niece as we baby sat her from Friday to Monday.

It's amazing how much joy something so small and helpless can bring to your life. It's been a huge shift for my in-laws from what they thought this phase of their life would look like to the new reality given their little surprise.

Speaking of new realities... I think it is safe to say 2025 didn't go exactly how we planned in terms of crypto. The face melting bull run didn't happen (I don't care what you say, it didn't), and HIVE continues to float along at this numbing low. However, there are a number of us that keep showing up every day and doing our thing. I love that someone took a hint from the Spotify 2025 Recap and gave us the HIVE 2025 recap.

Yes, I am jumping on the bandwagon and sharing mine with you here...

Wow, seven years! It's actually almost eight if we are being technical. I probably should have waited to do this until next month when I cross that milestone. While we can't all be like those folks who post every single day of the year, I am pretty happy with my 259 days of publishing. I think that gives me a good amount of time on the chain as well as some time away to focus on the things that are really important. No offense to those that hit that 365 day mark, this is just what works best for me!

Despite what might come in the next couple of slides, this is the section that I am probably most proud of. No, not the fact that I didn't post any video content this year, but the number of comments received, posts written, and upvotes given. I learned early on in HIVE that if you really want to be successful you need to be an active part of the community, not just someone who passively takes and takes (though there are those who do that).

My overall recap actually looks a bit different than I had expected. Where in the past my staked HBD would have been much greater, 2025 was a year where I tried to keep most of my HBD liquid as HIVE, hoping for that big HIVE pump when I could move my liquid HIVE back into HBD. Sadly, it never came. I'm actually kind of shocked to see that my top three communities included Reflections and Weekend Experiences. I have zero doubt The Pub will probably be at the top of my 2026 communities. The interactions on the other hand don't surprise me in the least. It has been a joy communicating with @tarazkp, @dbooster, @galenkp, #thebighigg, and @tengolotodo over the past year.

If there is one thing it is clear I need to improve on in 2026 is the fact that I need to play around with the microblogging a bit more. That seems to be one place where I am kind of lacking.

I'm going to be interested to see what this recap looks like for my sports account that I also post from. It's been a pretty productive year for that account, so I look forward to seeing those metrics!

I hope everyone has a happy new year and that 2026 brings them all the things that 2025 missed the ball on!
