I'm running on fumes this morning. Last week my wife and I cut out of work early on Thursday and started our long weekend to celebrate a few things. Way back in the Spring, my sister and law as well as myself turned 50 about a month apart from each other. At the time, she didn't really want to do anything special for it, but eventually she changed her mind. So the four of us (spouses included) started to brainstorm where we might travel to as a celebration.
This past weekend worked out perfect for all of us due to the fact that their school district where my sister in law and her husband work, as well as our school district where @mrsbozz and I both work had Friday off. So a few text exchanges later, and we had plans set to visit Austin, Texas.
This also just happened to fall on the weekend of @mrsbozz and I's 18th anniversary, so it was kind of a double celebration.

We spent about 10 hours traveling yesterday between the air and the land, an I am just about as dead as can be. I actually feel like I am a bit outside of my body right now. I think it is a combination of the slight time change, being tired in general, and probably being a bit dehydrated to boot. Needless to say, I am just "off". It's going to be a long road for me catching up on this Monday, between my real job and HIVE which I have been neglecting for the past three days.
After I publish this post, I will be working on comments, then I will be catching up on the posts I missed from the weekend. It's like a second job sometimes!
Needless to say, this post is going to be pretty short, but trust me, I have some cool stuff for you in the future. We packed so much into the last three days, and it didn't really even begin to scratch the surface of everything Austin has to offer.

One thing I am beginning to realize is just how important booking a "recovery day" from traveling is. As my wife and I get older, this is really starting to become apparent. It would have been really nice today to be able to just relax at home, get caught up on laundry, and just kind of decompress from all the excitement of the past weekend. You know how people say "I need a vacation from my vacation"? That's exactly how this feels.
Anyway, trust me when I say, if you forgive my laziness today, but stick with me through the next couple of weeks, you will see some pretty awesome food and hear about some really amazing experiences that we had on our trip. Probably not until Wednesday though. Tomorrow will be a music post since it is Tuesday and we only have two more states to get through for my musical road trip across the US.

Happy 18th anniversary and 50th birthday wishes!
Thank you!

Recovery days are essential. It sounds silly, but vacations take a toll on the body and mind even though we're having fun the whole time.
I'm glad you all had fun! 😁
