Hive engagement - We shouldn't overlook the power of commenting

When it comes to engagement on the Hive blockchain, I think one thing that is overlooked by many of us is the power of commenting. You would think that putting the effort and writing an article should do it, but if you're stopping there you simply stop carrying about your followers and the ones that support you. Not that you should reply to any comment, but when you see meaningful comments, straight to the point or which share common experiences, I believe that it counts to engage and comment back. It is like being in a forest and hearing an echo and once you reply that can transform in a musical of interactions. Myself I am trying to reply to given comments and find common ground or different views on what I am writing. And from this feedback I can improve my writings or even put into question the way of seeing things. I consider myself a person that improved or shaping my views also depending on how see the world and reality, thus commenting and replying is important to get some clarity on that.

Missed comments engagement

While I am posting my content on the Hive blockchain, I like to buzz about it on other platforms from web2 space and one such app is Twitter (X). And my routing would usually be like post and article on Hive, snap on Hive about the article to maybe bring short term readers to it and also do the same on Twitter (X). On Hive I consider that my engagement is pretty high, but I was overlooking Twitter 100%. And just today I took a bit of time and went through my tweets and observed that people were commenting to what I was posting just to receive back... an echo. I realized how easy I have overlooked the comments to my posts which could boost the engagement and impressions I was getting. And with a little bit of effort I went through last days posts and replied and liked to everyone of them. And I am sure such engagement and networking will build up and pay off in time.

Small actions compound over time

Replying to comments takes only a few minutes each day, yet the effect compounds over weeks and months. The results are not visible right away, but will be observed in time. Not only that I see I need to engage more, but also to leave meaningful comments and replies to my or other people's articles. Instead of writing a generic "Nice post, good luck, go ahead!", I am trying to take the time to find ground in what's written and share my opinion or ask a question in case I am out of subject totally. I consider that this is how I can build a healthy networking and good relations for long periods of time. We can look at this similar to investing where small and consistent contributions eventually add up and produce positive results in the end. Building a reputation on Hive is not only about publishing quality content, but also about being an active member and have others enjoy interacting with you.

Engagement creates opportunities

Not few times I found precious information in other's content or their comments. Sometimes those translated into investments that paid very well or additional information that helped me avoid making mistakes. A simple comment can transform into a long discussion and maybe a collaboration or even a friendship finding common ground. Hive prove itself as a social blockchain and sometimes we get so focused on publishing content that we forget the "social" part of it. The more engagement we have, the more visible we become within communities and get more support. People tend to remember those who interact with them, not only those who publish articles every day. These networking is the foundation to really succeed in this ecosystem, but also in other ones were we extend our presence. Just need to take a little bit of time and effort to interact with those sharing same interest and hobbies.

While will not get you riches right away, on the long term the engagement through commenting and replying is what will make a difference and build a supporting community around us. Articles may attract attention and get upvotes on the spot, but comments are what keep people coming back and wanting to engage with you. Whether it is on Hive, Twitter (X) or any other social platform, taking a few extra minutes to reply, appreciate the feedback and exchange ideas can make a significant difference over time. Content may start the networking, but engagement is what builds a brand and a community around it. And without this, it is hard to make impact, build a supporting follower base and rise above in a sea of content and authors. I think we all want to feel that we belong, so through commenting and replying that feeling becomes a reality. And once that happens, we establish a long term relation with those we interact with.
