You're right about the monopoly side of things utility companies have really hiked those delivery and infrastructure fees lately. If you do end up moving, building a solar-ready house from the jump is so much easier than retrofitting. At least for now, you've got the peace of mind with that water-powered backup.

Thanks for the input and the advice. The cost to build new right now is so crazy that it might not be an option for us like we hoped it would be in the past.
