That's more like it!

With Easter, everything was a bit weird since everyone has been busy and not online so much and it was the same for me, I even forgot to put my team in to the Splinterlands Brawls because real life had been busy.

It's a Tuesday today, the day after second Easter day and it's the fourth day in a row I don't have to work which is really nice 😊 it's now been a couple of days since I have my new camera and when you look at the picture quality on my thumbnail you can see it's a world of difference compared to my old camera 😍 and this is just a snapshot taken out of a video.
The Insta360 X4Air was very expensive but so far I'm really happy with it.

Have you seen @nanixxx post? she has about doubled her maximum cycling distance this week so kudos for that

The loggers have been busy around our regular mountainbike trail as you can see, the log that was lying over the trail was now gone and more trees were now cut as well, probably because they're old and the chance of falling is too high.

With soo much extra time and mostly good weather I took the time to go out on a extra ride and I cleaned the bike because later today I need to bring both bikes to the local bike shop for their yearly maintenance.

That maintenance stand makes any job on the bike so much easier, before while cleaning or doing small maintenance myself the bike would keep falling or I was not able to turn the pedals when I wanted to, no more of that now 🙂

The 'Thick Air' phenomenon

Thick Air is obviously not the scientific name but it's what cyclist call the higher air density when it's colder in winter, 'dikke lucht' in my language.

When it's colder, the air is more dense and because of that it requires more effort to cycle through plus on most winter days the roads are wet adding more rolling resistance.

At an average 25 km/h speed, the difference is about 2 km/h with the same effort, the faster you go the higher the resistance, at 30 km/h the difference is about 3 km/h.

When I compare this ride I had on January 8 this year with an average heart rate of 131 BPM, my average speed was 23.5 km/h to yesterday's ride with an average heart rate of 130 BPM but it's much faster with only a small difference in wind.

Sharing some pretty pictures

The cool thing about my new camera is I don't have to stop to take pictures anymore, it records everything around me 🙂

A horse-drawn carriage isn't something I see every day!

I hate when those fast road bikes overtake me 😅 I just can't keep up on my MTB...
At some point.. I will have a road bike as well for these zone 2 rides.

@nanixxx will DEFINITELY comment on my white legs here! 🤣
It was a beautiful spot to stop for a moment and have something to eat, it's so much better now the temperatures are a little bit higher and I don't get cold instantly like in winter where I just have to keep going and hope my bike doesn't break down.

Numbers!

My first ride ever was 11 months and a week ago and today I will bring my bike for it's first maintenance, however the local bike shop told me to make a three month maintenance appointment and again three months after that. I understand why they do that, I would like paying customers to return every three months as well but when performing the small jobs myself I think a one year maintenance for important jobs like lower leg service on my front suspension and check brake fluid and all other things they check I don't even know they do is perfectly fine, I don't think it will be very cheap anyway as nothing in cycling is cheap. 😅

Total distance - and I didn't did this on purpose - is 3939.3 km 😁

That's it for this week, next week there probably will be a video as well you may or may not be interested to watch 😆 now we have this camera and my daughter has plans to start her own YouTube Cycling Channel I need some editing experience so I can help her, so I might make a video on my own channel every now and then while I'm doing this.

Thanks for stopping by, stay safe and keep on pedaling!

Hellooo… applause for keeping the Chit Chat going! The truth is, I haven’t been able to sit down and organise everything to launch this week’s one. I’ve been really busy and dealing with a few uncomfortable situations… at one point I even thought it might be better to stay in that place without electricity — oh well! Go and live there, haha… just kidding.

That camera is absolutely amazing. I’m sure you’ll make great use of it, and we’ll get to enjoy even more of that beautiful scenery you’ve got there… haha… you’re as white as milk, man! Haha.

It looks like you’re going to surpass your mileage plans for the year before it even begins. I was wished a Happy New Year only yesterday, so Happy New Year to you as well. 🤣

Better temperatures for cycling are arriving! Nice shots with the new cam. Now waiting for some moving footage from the MTB trail 💪🚴‍♂️
I have a post ready for tomorrow with some annoying road cyclist footage 🤣
