Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch for hundred years, then came Japanese to help but the fact the Japanese colonized too. On August 1945, the activists proclaimed independence. However to defend the independence, there were big wars after that until 1949. Thousands of people died the wars against Dutch, British allies, and Japan.
