RE: If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well. Right?! | Marathon training update.

(edited)

So much !LUV for this ❤️

Caroline, it doesn't sound like you're having much fun. But I think you're doing just fine. How can you make this a little more fun and a little easier on yourself while still moving towards you goal?

I'm impressed with the paraphrasing, you managed to distill the almost 1000 words I wrote over 2 comments into a single statement...

evidently I waffle too much!

I am pleased to see that you have reassessed your training into something that is more manageable, and being kinder to yourself in the process. And I suspect that if a friend had told you they were trying something new but finding it really difficult and not enjoying it due to frustrations, I bet you would have recognized the issue straight away and provided a sensible solution.

Well, that looks like a successful week to me!

"Anything worth doing is worth doing well."

Yep I know this one... while I understand the good intention behind it, it can be so easy to get so obsessed in the details, that you loose sight of what the original plan was.

One of my pet hates is: "Winners never quit, quitters never win". I should never feel guilty for putting my physical and mental health first. Sometimes it is ok to quit the session early, or take a rest day or 3 if it is needed. When I'm having an off day, I remind myself: "something is better than nothing".

☺️

I like your waffling 😅 !LOL

And there were more points in there but that was the key but I wanted to pull out.

100% agree.

Yes, this is very David Goggins-ish. Much kinder to listen to the body and care for it.

Loving these quotes. Yes, yes. Also agree and a good reminder on the weeks when my marathon training doesn't go to plan to remember this rather than do what I've done in the past of either beating myself up (what a term!!!) or chucking the whole goal out because it's too hard or I'm too... (insert unbelief belief here).

Hope you're having a fab start to your Monday... when the sun rolls around your way. 🌞

I'm glad someone does! 😅

A quick google, I didn't know who he is... Good grief!! No disrespect to the people who served etc, but anyone who introduces himself as 'ex-military' in the first sentence is an egotistical bellend!

er yeah...guess I'm not a fan!

My Monday was pretty good to be fair. A casual 20 miles at the weekend, lead to a gentle recovery run earlier this evening. Had a productive day in the office too and turns out my manager is going to put me forward to study for an accountancy qualification, and hopefully my employer will contribute to cover a significant part of the cost. Its all good :-)

Wishing you a productive Tuesday!
