We know how smartphones have become very useful and powerful in our daily lives. Our smartphones have improved all aspects of our lives and communication with people irrespective of location. I use both my Samsung phone and Samsung Tablet for work and other activities.
At times we get engrossed in spending much time on our phones while other areas of our lives are neglected and may receive some consequences. As much as we have increased productivity with our smartphones, we need to be mindful of the length of time and the activities we indulge in.
There are ways we can maintain digital well-being while using our smartphones to their full potential through simple practices.
Some productivity Apps can be downloaded or installed on our phones to organise our daily lives.
I usually use Samsung Notes for my to-do list alongside Calendar and reminders on my phone to organise my activities. Samsung Notes on my tablet is what I use for my writing before I publish online.
When it comes to learning and doing research, I use Google, ChatGPT, Hive (yeah, I learn a lot from Hive), Udemy, and other interesting tools. I also use other Applications to improve my creativity and take advantage of the Internet for self-improvement.
Putting away all forms of distractions is necessary for increased productivity. I mute notifications on social media platforms especially WhatsApp (the notifications can be distracting), this helps me stay focused at the intended time.
I stay away from whatever may steal my time and what doesn't add value to my life but that doesn't mean I don't watch movies, or funny videos or communicate with family and friends. I make sure it doesn't eat into my productivity time.
While improving productivity, I am conscious of the damage that prolonged screen time can cause to my eyes and overall health. So I use blue-light-blocking glasses which help a lot.
I take breaks at intervals because my alarm and smartwatch notify me of a sedentary lifestyle. So I walk around and spend some time away from my screen, looking at nature and taking photos. My smartwatch is connected to my Samsung phone which also helps me track my daily steps, as well as my sleep time and other information about my health and sports.
I also use a meditation App that helps my mind and health. I try to drink enough water and eat healthily to maintain my health.
Staying in touch with family and friends has become easier through social media platforms and messaging Apps. Communicating with clients and customers and doing business has become a lot easier through smartphones. I take advantage of this and try to balance every aspect of my life.
With all these, I can say my smartphone is utilized properly.
When something has control over us, it negatively affects some areas of our lives, this is the reason we need to maintain control of our lives.
If my phone or tablet takes full control of its operations such that I lose control over it and sink myself in it, my health will be mostly affected as well as a deterioration in my social life and productivity.
This won't only affect my physical health but mostly my mental health which needs to be in a sound state to handle other areas of my life but if this is missing it will be impossible.
It is necessary to be aware and mindful of the risks our phones may cause while using them to improve productivity, remain in control and maintain a balanced and healthy life.
Remember, "health is wealth".
This is my response to the prompt for the Thinker's Corner Contest June edition initiated by @kenechukwu97
How do you know that you are making the best use of your phone? What part of your life would suffer the most damage if your phone takes full control of its operation and turns on you.
This may come in late but I had to publish it. Oh! Winanda 🤦♀️.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read my blog.
I would love to hear from you in the comments and if you enjoyed reading this post or learned something from it and would love to add a tip, I will be looking forward to that in the comment section.

Thanks so much for the compliments and for visiting my blog.
Hello, Winanda. I'm sorry for showing up late to share my thoughts on your entry to this month's edition of The Thinker's Corner Challenge.
Your post makes it fairly obvious that you've already figured out how to make the best use of your phone and enjoy all the features without allowing any unnecessary distractions to get in the way. The tip about turning off unnecessary notifications is spot-on. That's exactly why I freeze some Apps on my phone to avoid drama.
The usage of phones for improved health and fitness is spot-on. People really don't look in the right places. So, they moan about not having gym registrations or a premium paid health instructor. Haha. Several health and fitness Apps can serve as a fairly decent alternative and a lot of them are free on App stores.
Just like you observed, I'm sure a lot of people would also face a great deal of physical and mental health issue if they are exposed to a situation where their phones take full control of its operation and turn on them. It would be an awful experience.
Wow! Kene. I'm surprised.
I was unsure if my blog post would be counted as an entry for this month's edition because it was published after the deadline. Thanks for recognising it.
You're right. At times, what we seek far away is right in our hands and we can only realise it if we look within.
Yeah, it could be tough at times trying to meet deadlines and doing so much within a little time frame but having the solution and taking necessary measures could help be on track.
I appreciate you coming around and for your deep contribution and thoughts about my entry.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Hey @winanda, please do not forget to share your post as a Leo Thread, too!

You gave a decent detail of the benefits of a phone and the cons when not put under check. One thing I do is to make sure I am in control of my phone and not the other way round.
#dreemerforlife
Thanks for the comment. It's good you are control of your phone.
I appreciate you coming around dear Dreemer.
While technology has brought ease to our daily lives, we still need to be mindful of how we use these gadgets so they don't occupy most of our times which can be used for other things like time with families, alone time etc.
#dreemerforlife
Exactly. It could be risky if we are not mindful of how it is used.
Thanks for your comment and contribution.
I appreciate you coming around dear Dreemer.

In this era, having a smart phone is almost like having everything...it basically does everything for most of use phone all the
That's right, at the same time we need to be mindful of how we use it.
