RE: How Did We Forget To Be Happy?

I must say George -- this truly was a masterpiece of inward thinking. That true happiness can't be bought or sold, it comes from within. We can only give happiness and not receive it.

I loved this, I really did.

Your question as to whether happiness is out of reach for current society? No, it's just that the ideals for what makes true happiness have shifted. We are told great unchecked power and thrones made of gold are what makes us happy.

But alas, it's out of reach for most, and those that do find themselves at the top find an empty cup and a life wasted.

So we are currently a world starving for meaning -- and it's starting to crumble.

Those that do stop and take time to smell the roses, hear the bird song, and listen to people walk by -- will truly inherit the earth.

Sadly, people have been misled by the manual the older generation left behind. I think understanding that true happiness doesn't come in the direction the world is focused on is a blessing to be grateful for.

Thanks for your thoughtful response and answer to my question...

Yes.

I miss my grandad. He would tell me stories of the war and men accomplishing great things.

We've sort of abandoned the wisdom of old age, thinking that we, as youngers, should know any better :)
