We visited our two druids to take care of a tree last Sunday. Precisely, a birch tree called betula. The druids, me and my tree buddy and friend Thilo had a great idea which we turned into reality.
Instead of pruning and harming the tree, we bend the long branches down.
In this way we were able to reduce the tree by half its height without cutting.
That's before...
...and after.
Now the tree provides even more shade and offers a nice place to be.
Happy birchday 🌱
Our equipment included a telescopic pole, throw line and throw bags, ground anchors and rope to fix.
In addition to a bottom full of knowledge of arboriculture and nature.
It has been a pleasure to use this technique as it is often better than using the saw. It's quick to saw off or cut something, but the process of growth takes time and it is an art of long-term thinking to shape and design trees.
Always remember, depending on the size, timing and type of pruning, pruning a tree is a major operation and can cut the tree's longevity.
My Mantra is the following:
Trees are living beings; And because of them we breathe easy, live and stay healthy.
The beekeeper came to take care of some beehives while we were practicing our tree banding. That was pretty lucky because we got rewards in form of fresh honey.
