It's funny, but since the whole Covid pandemic thing, @mrsbozz and I really don't go out as much as we used to. Despite what you might think looking at my blog, we never really went out a lot before Covid (maybe once a week), but since the lockdowns and all of that, I feel like we go out even less now.
It's not that we are worried about anything, we just got in the habit of not, so much to the detriment of the economy, now that we can, we just don't. In fact, a lot of times when we do "go out" these days, it's actually us just picking up take out and bringing it back to the house to eat in the comfort of our own home.
I'd like to say it's cheaper that way, but the prices have skyrocketed so much that even if you aren't drinking, you can expect to pay over $50 for a two person meal. Sure, we can usually squeeze two meals out of that one $50 meal, but it still isn't anything like it used to be.
If you follow my @bozz.sports account, you know that we often go out to watch my nieces and nephews play sports. A couple weekends ago, we got to switch gears a little bit and go to a show at @mrsbozz's old high school. The daughters of a couple of our friends had gotten parts in "Elf The Musical", so we felt obliged to get tickets to show our support for them.
We call them nieces though they aren't actually related by blood. It's just a rare occurrence that two separate friends had their daughters in the show. They weren't huge parts, but it was still cool to see them on the stage.
I'll be the first to admit, I have never seen the movie "Elf". I've seen parts of it and it looks pretty funny, but I've never given it a full watch. I also wouldn't consider my wife and I theater snobs. We go to some shows at our local art center, I've seen Rent and Stomp on Broadway, I've also seen Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages theater in Toronto, but I wouldn't consider us aficionados.
That being said, the show was really good for being high school students and lower. It was actually pretty fantastic. They did a really great job. My only critique would be that they used hired musicians for the music. It would have been cooler if they had used students from the band for that.
After the show, we waited around to talk with the girls and tell them how well they had done. One of them is younger and she isn't able to drive, so she had to wait around for her mom and dad to take her home. We talked to her briefly and gave her lots of praise as well as some flowers we had bought for her.
The other "niece" is able to drive and after standing around for a while and hunting the crowd for her, we finally texted her only to find that she had left right after the show. Even though she knew we were going to be there to support her.
A little "put off", we headed out to the car and pointed it towards home. It was actually @mrsbozz who suggested instead of going home and eating what she had prepared for the night we stop at one of our favorite local places and grab dinner.
She was understandably a little hurt and I wasn't about to deny her comfort in her time of need.
She had her usual Captain Morgan (spiced rum) and diet coke to drink and I decided to try a Steven's Point Brewery "Snow Pilot". It's described as a pistachio nut brown ale and it was absolutely fantastic. In fact, it was so good I had two of them. It was easy drink and it went down really well on the cold Sunday evening. Despite the fact that this was on Sunday, I hope it's okay to include it for #beersaturday sponsored by @detlev.
@mrsbozz got a chicken wrap as she usually does. It's pretty common for her to have them leave the onions and the sauce out of the wrap and then she asks for ranch on the side and she also gets a side of onion rings instead of chips or fries.
It's not that she doesn't like onions or the sauce, but she isn't a fan of raw onions and she also likes to be able to control how much dressing or sauce is on the wrap. They do a really good job at this place of putting out delicious high quality food. They actually opened a second location about a year ago in the next town over. It helped to reduce the amount of traffic they were getting from people coming over into our town.
Don't be mistaken though, this place still gets packed pretty much every night.
@mrsbozz is always gracious enough to share her onion rings with me. This place does a really good job of balancing the batter to onion ratio. Some places get it totally wrong and it ends up being a huge disappointment.
I decided to go with one of my favorites which is the Bacon Sriracha BBQ burger. They have a BBQ burger on the menu, but I also knew they had this really good Bourbon Sriracha BBQ sauce that they put on their chicken wings. I used to ask for them to use that sauce on my burger instead of the regular BBQ sauce. I must have not been the only one because after a while I noticed they had a special burger on the menu that used that spicier sauce.
The burger also comes with shoestring fried onions on it, bacon, and cheese. I usually get fries with my burger so that @mrsbozz can have a couple in return for her sharing her onion rings with me. This place actually changed their fries into these wedge style potatoes. They were still good, but I kind of miss the old seasoned fries that they used to use.
It was totally out of the ordinary for us to eat out like this on a Sunday night, but it was still a really nice meal. We headed home and put the unexpected flowers in a some water so that we could enjoy them for a couple of days. They are finally starting to die off now, but while they were still fresh I grabbed the shots that you see in this post with my Pixel 8 Pro.
Good article and very interesting. Greetings to all of us.

We had a really nice time, thank you!
You still have us beat: we almost never go out these days. But that is probably more about how expensive things are when you bring two kids with you.
You know I've never seen Elf either. That's cool that the play of it was good.
Yeah, I totally get that. It's crazy expensive just for two people. I can't imagine a family of four or more going out. When I was a kid it was a hike to get into town, so it was really only once a week or less that we ever went out to eat. I think that made it easier for me to handle not doing it now.
Wow I'm so excited by this
I was even imagining I was there. Cheers
Thanks
