But fluff me, someone I knew got a couple of thousand dollars for posting tweets, commenting and retweeting...

What is Socialfi engagement airdrop farming?

This is what I call this type of airdrop, it may not be correct but I term this way!

It is a marketing tactic employed by some cryptocurrency projects to increase their visibility and engagement on social media platforms like Twitter.

Here's a general overview of how it typically works:

Token Allocation: The project allocates a certain amount of their native cryptocurrency tokens for distribution through airdrops.

**Engagement Criteria: **To participate in the airdrop, users are often required to engage with the project's social media accounts in some way. This could include things like following the project's Twitter/X account, retweeting specific tweets, mentioning the project in a tweet, or using project-related hashtags. More often than not, it will involve joining the project Discord server. Sometimes you need to download a game or wallet for extra points.

Tracking Engagement: The project tracks participants' engagement on social media platforms using tools like hashtags, mentions, or specific URLs. This allows them to verify who has completed the required actions for participation. Points means prizes!

Token Distribution: Once the airdrop period is over, the project distributes the allocated tokens to eligible participants based on their level of engagement and compliance with the specified criteria. This is the thoery, sometimes it is pishpoor allocations

Community Building: Social engagement airdrop farming is often used as a strategy to build and nurture a community around the project. By incentivizing social media activity, projects aim to increase their visibility, attract new followers, and foster engagement among existing community members.
