What are online surveys?

Online surveys are like digital questionnaires that people can answer using their phones, computers, or tablets. They're a really popular way to gather information from lots of people about all sorts of things!

What's their Purpose?

Companies, researchers, and even individuals use online surveys to understand people's opinions, habits, and preferences.

All this information can then be used for market research (figuring out what people want to buy), product development (making better products), social science studies (learning about how people think and behave), and much more.

How Do They Work?

Online surveys usually have a series of questions that you answer by choosing from multiple-choice options, clicking on rating scales, or occasionally writing your own answers in text boxes, then there are the games that you sometimes get too!

How to get started with online surveys

• Find a reputable survey site or app
  There are many platforms that offer paid online surveys. Some popular options include Swagbucks, SurveyJunkie, ySense, PaidViewpoint, and Prolific.
  Do some research to find sites that are available in your country and have good reviews. We at MMO have of course tested many survey sites and ranked them and this will be the subject in a later blog.
• Sign up for an account
  Once you have chosen a platform, then create an account. You'll usually need to provide some basic information about yourself, like your age, gender, and location to get you started.
• Complete your profile
  Many survey sites will ask you to fill out a more detailed profile about your interests, lifestyle, and shopping habits. This helps them match you with relevant surveys. Not all survey sites are created equal, and sometimes completing your profile can be a case of TMI (Too Much Information) and the number of surveys you get sent reduces! We cover this in our survey ranking blog.
• Start taking surveys
  Once you've completed your profile, you'll start receiving invitations to participate in surveys. Read the instructions carefully and answer the questions honestly. We cannot stress this enough. Read the questions and be honest. Many sites will use checkers to make sure your answers match your profile, so be honest, it is easier to be honest anyway!
• Get rewarded
  Most survey sites will reward you with points, cash, or gift cards for completing surveys. Make sure you understand the rewards system and how to redeem your earnings. Some sites will let you cash out instantly but again read the terms and conditions to know when you will get paid or rewarded for your endeavours!
