Swap HIVE, HBD, & tokens in Hive Keychain

I just noticed that the new version of Hive Keychain has a swap feature! It's also been way too long since I've written a post, so I figured I'd share my experience with this new addition. I've just returned from travelling to Mexico for HiveFest, and what a fucking wild journey that was. Truly an incredible experience. Maybe one day I'll write a full post on it.

Between travelling, HiveFest, and processing a shit ton of inventory for my used book business... I've been busy as shit and overly exhausted. I'd do it over again in a heartbeat though.

Anyway - one of the most annoying things about getting Hive Engine tokens was that you would have to trade your HIVE for SWAP.HIVE, and then trade that SWAP.HIVE for whatever token. For a new user or someone not familiar with trading, this can be a bit intimidating. For a veteran, it's a minor inconvenience. Still annoying.

Hive Keychain is the most popular was Hive users store their keys and interact with dApps. Adding a swap mechanism makes a lot of sense, and I was really excited when I saw it so I immediately used it. There's also no fees right now, so why the hell not?

I don't feel like I really need to write the steps out on this, it's so fucking easy. First off, make sure your app is up to date. The chrome extension updates automatically, so that's what I used on desktop.

Select the SWAPS button, pick your tokens, and submit. It's almost too easy. Big win for Hive. Once you do that, the magic happens in the background. All the swapping of one token to the other i mentioned above to get to the final token is done for you, for free.

Basically what happens in a few seconds is Token A is sent to @keychain.swap, and that account makes the trades to get Token B. Then it sends the final token to your wallet. Like magic.

I was able to swap HBD for LEO in less than 30 seconds, where before I would have had to do an absurd amount of swaps manually. I could tell you a few different ways, but all of them kinda suck. So this is a major W.

We always talk about the need for liquidity in the ecosystem, and this really helps with that. Not that this adds more liquidity than there was, it just makes it more accessible. Maybe we will start seeing more liquidity come in now that it's incredibly easy to access different tokens on Hive and Hive Engine.
