With the US and Israel launching strikes on Iran today, February 28, 2026, things are heating up fast in the Middle East. This isn't just another headline, it's already shaking up world markets in ways that could hit your wallet.
President Donald Trump announced major combat operations against Iran, targeting its leaders and military sites. Iran fired back with missiles at Israeli territory and US bases in the region. This all unfolded in the tense Strait of Hormuz area, a narrow waterway off Iran's coast where about a fifth of the world's oil flows through.
Analysts warn of immediate fallout, with oil prices jumping as fears grow over supply disruptions. Brent crude, a key global oil benchmark, is already around $73 a barrel, up sharply from recent levels.
If Iran blocks the strait, prices could spike to $100, adding pressure on everything from shipping to factories. Oil isn't just for cars, it's important in global trade. Higher costs could fuel inflation worldwide, maybe adding 0.6 to 0.7 percentage points globally, according to some experts.
Stock markets felt the hit right away. Gold surged past $5,000 an ounce, as investors scramble for cover. Asian markets, hooked on Middle East energy, might see the worst of it.

I wonder how much this has to do with the supposed weapons of mass destruction in the early 2000's.
We all live on this planet and need to learn to get along. We need to learn from eachother instead of worrying about politics and or religion that cause wars. 😡🤬😡
