The Little Things On Hive Matter!

On the Crypto Maniacs Podcast earlier this week, we had the pleasure of having @arcange on the show.

Near the end of the talk, we starting discussing @hivebuzz and the issues that have been facing it when it comes to getting it's proposal funded. Tonight I wanted to go over what things like Hive Buzz are important to people on Hive, and how we can help make this blockchain much more welcoming to people in the future.

So I'm sure you have seen these pop up in your notifications right?

You see, Hive Buzz is a slick little program built into your experience on the blockchain. It's gamification that rewards us for being active here. And yeah, there is a bot that sends out these notifications, and some may say it's spam...I think it's something that shou;d be celebrated and here's why!

When you first join Hive, you are confused! Heck I know I was! Most of us have never heard of 'memo keys' or resource credits. And we are then thrust into this community without knowing where to begin. But we dive in....

And then we start getting these kind of notices...Which shows that our efforts are not in vain!

We are learning by doing and for a lot of is, this is a measuring stick for our growth on the blockchain.

Look at one of these cool little features on the main HiveBuzz site...

If you hover over each of these, it shows you your next closest achievement. Which is absolutely brilliant because it gives us little mini-goals to aim for. And the more of these goals we stack up, the more enjoyable our experience becomes.

Experience.

You see, this is what is critical for onboarding new people. We have to have good experiences on this blockchain because remember, when you first join....It's not a 'fun' experience. There's lots of learning and lots of pressing buttons. Which may attract the odd new member, but generally, people want to enjoy the experience from the get go.

Hive Buzz helps new members, enjoy their Hive experience!

This may seem trivial for a lot of you, but trust me when I say....Over the past 25 years I've focused on the user experience when it comes to building online businesses. And nothing is more important that your new user, member or customer actually enjoying their experience.

And let's be honest....

Most of these new people won't stick around for the rewards. Because you know and I know, getting any kind of sustainable level of creation rewards takes a lot of time and effort here on chain. And rightfully so!

So getting a little badge, a small token to showcase your growth here...Is a win!

This is why supporting Hive Buzz's proposal is so important to this chain. If we want to attract members and get them to stick around, gamification is so important. And while getting a badge notification may not be something you appreciate, there are thousands upon thousands of members who do appreciate it.

I know I do too, even if I'm not a newer member of the blockchain....Anytime I can aim for a new goal, I'll keep working at it!

I think Hivebuzz should integrate with the frontend. That way it can reduce on the notifications and in the frontend you can see variety of badges and updates. This is something would help gamification on hive. I suppose having such tools are essential but they also need to be innovating on ways to help keep people on platform.

Incremental achievement is powerful, as a new user of Hive I liked getting that Hivebuzz notifications it's confirmation that I'm learning more about the environment and gaining experience.

I also think it would suck to see HiveBuzz stopped. It was a great system and I honestly like the different milestones that I reached. Especially as a new user, it definitely motivated me because I was seeing those badges constantly.

I'm always looking forward to my hivebuzz notifications to see how far I've progress and what my next targets are. Gamification is great when creating a user experience where users will want to stick around and keep returning. It's a good challenge.

Hivebuzz is a great tool for all hivers. I’ve been trying to get some of the known badges for some days now and I can say it has helped me stayed active knowing how far I’ve come whenever I hear the Hivebuzz notifications. It’s a good project to support and all hivers should be of support to help improve the system more in the future .

It is nice to see those updates from Hive Buzz from time to time. I understand how it can be a real motivator for some people. I've been spending a lot of time thinking about the proposal system lately. It really feels like it is being taken advantage of on some level and many proposals are getting constant funding and producing very little in return. I don't feel like that was the original intent of the system.

Sometimes I feel like I'm lagging because I'm not really serious with Hivebuzz but I know that it is never too late
I can still do that

Es un programa muy importante, ya que te dice tu avance dentro de la cadena de bloques y te va dando insignia a medida que avanzas dentro de Hive.
