How did Shareit, which has 200 million users, die? There was a time when there was an app installed on our phones apart from the default app, that was Shareit. Shareit reigned worldwide.
Shareit started its journey in 2012. And it was a product of Chinese tech giant Lenovo. Earlier, if a movie was sent from one phone to another via Bluetooth, it would take an hour, two hours, sometimes three hours or more. But after Shareit came, it works via Wi-Fi. And then just that movie that took three hours was being transferred from one phone to another in maybe five to 10 minutes.
This was two hundred times faster than Bluetooth. That is why people quickly switched to Shareit from Bluetooth. And these apps were downloaded overnight on Google Play Store. At the same time, it came to the top ranking on Google Play Store. There was no need for any sign up to use ShareIt. Even no Wi-Fi connection or any mobile data was needed.
Normally, data could be sent from one phone to another. And this is why ShareIt became very popular in developing countries like Bangladesh, India, Pakistan or similar. At one time, we were able to use ShareIt uninterruptedly. There was no hassle. Pairing up was very easy. That means we could instantly transfer any type of data from one phone to another.

ShareIt later added ads and added them to such an extent that it actually became a source of annoyance for people. Whenever you opened the apps, an ad came immediately. You selected the file, a pop up came. You are sending the file now, now an ad came. The file was sent, now an ad came. What an annoying thing! If I say it personally, I uninstalled it for this reason. Then another thing was even more annoying, that was the notification.
Notifications kept coming all day. As a result of this notification, on the one hand, the phone is getting hot due to keeping the phone busy, the battery is draining more. Then there was another thing that was more serious, especially for our sub continental. That is, they would show or suggest sensitive content. They would suddenly suggest, show adult content in the notification. I mean, what is happening is not suitable for our conservative society at all.
For this reason, many people started talking about Share It and many content creators have spoken, I have also spoken personally. Many people have uninstalled it because of this. But this was a big reason. Number two, I will talk about the file size. That is, when Share It came to the market, its file size was from two point five MB to seven point five MB. It was a very lightweight application.
