In the Spotlight

New Listings for HIVE

I think this is definitely the highlight of this week. After a spot listing for HIVE and a pair with USDT on the non-KYC exchange Hotcoin which started trading last week on December 18th, we had a number of CEXes announcing perpetual futures contracts for HIVE-USDT, launched either on December 23rd or on Christmas Eve. Coincidentally (or not), the Upbit pump started on December 23rd, at midnight UTC (time as usual).

Here are the CEXes which added perpetuals for HIVE (in order of announcements/reposts on Hive's official X account, apart from Binance, which I moved at the top for obvious reasons):

  • Binance
  • Bitget
  • BitMEX
  • SuperEx
  • XT Exchange
  • Bittrue
  • BitKan
  • Gate.io

Nothing was announced from our side other than sharing original tweets as far as I know, but I have to wonder if such coordination happened randomly, or if we (@crimsonclad?) helped it happen this way.

Offchain Luxembourg Onboards Local Politicians to Hive

We learn from their post that the Deputy Mayor of the City of Luxembourg and the City Alderman in charge of Budget and Finances have installed Hive Keychain and loaded HBD to spend in the city.

Now the challenge for Offchain Luxembourg is to onboard more local businesses. They already onboarded the @indies-cafe from the center of the city of Luxembourg.

@x-rain Shared Some Interesting Success Stories of Hive Content on Reddit

Potentially 2000 visitors per month coming from Reddit is a good start and has room to grow if we don't abuse "the system" by posting in the wrong subreddits, against the rules, spam or low-quality content (unless that's what the subreddit is about).

There are quite a few changes which can be consulted in the announcement, but the one probably people expected was that the gates are now opened non-stop for ranked battles.

Bitcoin Predictions - Hit and Misses

I thought for our last edition of the year, linking such an article would be fun. To see how much off people were the longer the timespan from when the prediction was made till now, and how a few of them kind of nailed it much better in the second part of the year.

It's interesting that while a few of the predictions from the article have been unrealistic and needed to be adjusted much lower, my own take profit levels started too low and needed to be adjusted higher.

I think it's interesting to hear that politicians are getting on board. If it can help make HBD be used more in a real life setting, then it would help a lot.

Well... I don't know the specifics of how @sorin.cristescu convinced them - maybe they are regulars of the coffee place that accepts HBD - but I'm sure they can see the trend growing and maybe don't want to be seen as close-minded.

Perhaps someone inside Hive is helping with the moves happening with the CEXs listings and they just haven't had the time to do any official announcements.

Maybe... Although it is possible the only "real" listings are Hotcoin spot and Binance perpetuals, and the rest were just following in the footsteps of Binance.

Exchange news is always welcome and very positive!

The Luxembourg news is very promising. If they can get businesses to accept it more that would get the Hive name out. I know I would love to see places here in the US accept it! Hopefully Distriator is successful!

They bring some eye balls to HIVE. Usually the kind of eye balls that wouldn't otherwise pay any attention to us.

I like that it is an European thing. They have taken the route of being a fully-compliant organization, which may give some exposure in areas where otherwise Hive would have trouble getting in. Plus, Luxembourg is is relatively small country neighboring France, Belgium, and Germany (I added Germany last since from what I know they officially speak French in Luxembourg apart from their native old language).

I know I would love to see places here in the US accept it! Hopefully Distriator is successful!

Maybe with the new administration there will be more openness to what we offer in the US too.
