RE: Week through Adrian's Lenses (15-21 March 2025)

I've used Mastodon for a while and mentioned Hive a lot without being banned.

So, the impact is at the server level then? But yet again, you can't be on all servers, you have to choose one to be on, I suppose. And if you are unlucky, does your content survive on Fediverse or not, if you move to a different interface? I suppose I don't know enough about this protocol...

Cheers for the updates and I hope you are recovering well.

Thanks! I still have my jaw swollen, but that should pass in a day or two. Then, it takes a while for the sutures to heal. It seems I'm on track. I talk with my dentist daily and will go for a visit on Monday.

The various Mastodon/Fediverse nodes are run by individuals or organisations. They can each set and enforce their own rules. People can also opt not to federate other nodes if they think they are spammy or otherwise unsuitable. You can think of them as being like email servers really. They communicate on a standard protocol, but operate independently. If someone ran one that linked to Hive then would see if it would be accepted.
