If you think the title up there is kind of contradictory, I agree. 🤣 But it'll make sense. Just keep reading...
A little earlier I finished listening to the recording of the Inleo Twitter Space held after a few weeks of hiatus because either Khal was sick or Mitch was busy doing something else. I'm pretty sure this is the first one after the first LeoAds payments. Not sure if that was the reason (I'm sure in part it was), but there were a couple of speakers (unlike the usual AMA format with Khal and Mitch), and you could sense they were all excited and looking forward to the future.
As a LEO stakeholder and a daily user of the platform, their excitement makes sense to me and I can relate to it. I hope it is as exciting for people who hear about Inleo for the first time in their lives, or those who know about the platform but don't use it yet, because I'm having trouble putting myself in their shoes and seeing things from their perspective. I hope Inleo is being seen as a platform that brings value to its stakeholders, users, and the ecosystem it is part of, and not like many other projects in the crypto space that are all talk and nothing to back it. Luckily, Inleo can easily show what they've been building.
Now, let's explain the title...
During the AMA, Khal made two major announcements with a direct impact on your LEO rewards, as a content creator. If you haven't seen what this is about yet, I suggest to keep reading.
The first announcement is that a post doesn't have to include a "leofinance" or "leo" tag to be distributed LEO from the LEO rewards pool. This is the "wider" part from the title. However, I got burned for a pretty long time in the past using a different tag and not earning any LEO tokens, so for now, I will keep using "leofinance", until it's clear this update is already in production and other people use it and it works as intended.
The second announcement is the one that makes the LEO rewards more focused. At the same time, going forward, only posts published from the Inleo platform will receive LEO rewards. So, it will no longer be possible to publish a post from a different front-end, use the "leofinance" tag, and be rewarded in LEO too.
I imagine the second announcement won't be to the liking of people who earned LEO this way.
If they argue that you can't possibly post from different front ends at the same time, if your post relates to different communities, and if each front end imposes this restriction it would become a problem, I believe we should look at this with different eyes.
Inleo is the first Hive interface that focuses on advertising revenue (and sharing it with stakeholders and content creators). I know some people don't like advertisers and therefore, ads, and I understand their perspective. I'm not fond of them either. But this is the model Inleo has chosen, and, as such, I believe they are within their right to distribute LEO rewards to users of their platform, who help them grow the advertising revenue, and at the same time, the value returned to Inleo users. That's why I believe it's a correct decision.
By the way, since Inleo has become a platform where all Hive content is displayed, that doesn't stop any post viewed and upvoted on Inleo from receiving rewards in HP, HBD, and any other tokens but LEO, if it was published from a different platform than Inleo. LEO rewards are the only ones affected by the platform where the post has been published. If you publish from Inleo, you may receive LEO rewards if you receive votes from LEO stakeholders, if you publish from a different front-end, even if LEO stakeholders vote on your posts, you won't receive LEO rewards.

Thanks for the update. Im not so interested to earn Leo so it doesnt affect me, but I guess it makes sense if they have invested in the platform that people would use it. I think Cine TV with CINE token also throttled rewards for not using their front end for posting. Is Leo Finance still a community to post long form articles or is it still just twitter focused threads?
Thanks. I read about this but forgot. Like you with LEO, I don't post on Cine TV, although I like their idea and hope it is developed further and used by people who like to talk about movies.
I'm using it mainly to post long-form content. It is a community too, but you can post in whatever community you want.
Leo if for everything now. All content is welcome. Threads is still in full swing too.
Exactly.
What about curation rewards for "LEO people" that upvoted such posts? Will they receive LEO curation rewards for that?
Also, what happens if LEO stakeholders upvote LEO posts on another platform?
Since the post won't receive LEO rewards, I believe they won't.
If the posts were published on Inleo, they will receive curation rewards, if not, they won't. It would be a little difficult to identify which is which if you curate from a different front end (other than the link at the end). On Inleo, one can see if a post has LEO rewards or not (if they are zero).
At least that's how I understand things without seeing them "in action".
So, if I have a lot of HP and staked LEO, I'm incentivized to curate content that is published on LEO... So, even if I find a better post on HIVE, I will "sacrifice" my vote and go with a shitty post as I will earn more curation rewards?
That reminds me of some stupid rules where I live... As in this "province," you have a local language and Spanish, BOTH are obligatory to know if you want to work as a medic, doctor, investigator, etc. This means if you went to the University of Madrid and were the best in Spain (or the world), you are still not welcome to work in Valencia as you don't know Valenciano... Believe me, it works like that... Stupidity over quality...
I hope it will not be "integrated" to the biggest tribe on HIVE...

This is an interesting development, but an understandable one. I don't use the Leo interface, and only earn Leo from my curation. This leads me to my question of, will users like me that don't use the interface, also not earn Leo from the votes I give to Leo posts?
You will continue to earn curation rewards if you vote on posts created on the Inleo platform. Right now, I wouldn't know how to tell them apart on another front end, other than the link at the end of the post, since most interfaces don't post the front end the article was written from.
Oh, that would be nice then. I don't use Inleo, and I'm pretty happy with Peakd. Thanks for the clarification.
I haven't listened to the space but I do think the 2nd thing will make a few people made. I am not sure if that is the best choice at all. It doesn't really make LEO a better platform. I feel that LeoFinance should build things that make people want to come here rather than force people.
Yeah, I guess people will have the feeling Inleo is turning into a sort of silo they are used to from the Web 2 world. I wonder if there's really another way to handle things while focusing on advertising revenue.
I think it's more clear now on how LEO rewards will work. It looks straightforward but I think it's good to keep using the 'leofinance' tag until the changes become official or in production like you've pointed out.
Yes, I'll keep the tag for a week or two, at least, or until it isn't added by default on the front end. Better to be safe than sorry.
This update is very good for users as they will start getting some extra rewards so here we will see people will start using this platform more enthusiastically.
I believe that's the reasoning behind the move. As we can see, not everyone is happy about it, and to some degree, I understand why people dislike the new rule (the second one).
Yeah some people's like changes or some not.
OK thank you @gadrian. This explains why I am not earing anymore leo rewards where it tells you in the orange box under Publish to claim rewards. Thank you for your detailed description of what is going on with "LEO Rewards, Distributed Wider and More Focused at the Same Time." Have a great week! Barb !BBH !CTP #ctp
@gadrian! Your Content Is Awesome so I just sent 1 $BBH (Bitcoin Backed Hive) to your account on behalf of @adcreatordesign. (1/1)
Thank you @bbhbot 😀
Nah, the "Claim Rewards" orange button means you have unclaimed rewards, but they refer to HIVE/HBD/HIVE Power rewards. To be honest, I ignore that button, but I have my rewards auto-claimed (you can do it from Keychain).
The post mainly refers to the fact that it would be better to use Inleo to create posts or to curate, if you are interested in LEO rewards.
OK, @gadrian thanks for your advice! This is great advice and much appreciated. Yes, I am going to do some work on creating posts in Leo for more Leo rewards. !BBH !CTP

I wish to earn Leo but my job is taking too much of my time
I’d be making little progress each day
Every little bit adds up.
