Dhanteras is an annual Hindu festival which is an auspicious day for Hindus around the world. Since it is an auspicious day people usually do investments like buying Gold, Silver or any utensils. We also have a tradition on buying some Gold or Silver either in the form of Jewellery, utensils or even plain coin. This year, I have bought Digital Gold for Rs 500 as well as bought a 10 Gold ETF.

Last year I have bought the Silver Buiscuit as well as Digital Gold, and in this year I have continued the Digital Gold as well as this time also bought Gold ETF. I am buying Digital Gold so that I can use that gold for jewellery letter whereas Gold ETF is for pure investment. In am also thinking of starting a SIP on Gold ETF so that I can get some average price which is better for the long term.
This has become a norm for me to buy digital gold at these occasions from last four year or so where instead of buying physical gold, I bought a Digital gold. This is actually helping me to diversify the investment which my portfolio needs and add the Gold and Silver to it, though this year i have not added Silver in my portolfio. Also, though buying a Digital Gold in place of physical gold is good but still, I think Gold ETF are a better option than Digital Gold since Soverign Gold Bond is not an option anymore.
I first thought if getting the 1 Gm Gold coin, but what I learned is that if you are buying a coin from one shop, the other shop doesn't give the full amount for that and they will buy it for 5 to 10% less and that's the loss for us.

Gold coins ke buy back par 5-10% ka discount nahi karte hain shopkeeper. Aap GRT se buy kar ke Kalyan mein sell kar sakte ho. But you need to have the original receipt and papers Bina uske aapka gold sell nahi hoga.
For the very same reason I am buying physical gold in the form of coins. But iss saal nahi liye is baar Silver ke kaam ho jayega. 🙏
I read somewhere that they will not give cash for it, if you are using of other brands then you can only use it for purchase of another jewellery and they cut some amount. And if you are selling for the same brands then they will cut 1% and give you cash.
