Damn... I wish I had been there. Nowadays I try to get at least some of the packs of promising new launches. Still waiting for that next AW or Splinterlands.
They did it as a reverse auction.
Interesting, so it was a Dutch auction. Hope you didn't get in too soon! But on the other hand, I would imagine the starting prices being pretty good nowadays.

Yeah, it was a Dutch auction. That is the term I was looking for. I actually didn't get in on time. My bid was too low and the packs were gone before it got to that point. Luckily a guy was willing to sell me a couple that he had picked up. He probably wishes he had kept them now!
