So, I've finally found a path and I'm going to go where it leads. My plan was always to put my foot through the door of an actual industry with growth potential and then make my way up from there.
I decided to get certifications that in turn would make me eligible for new entrant roles. This increases my chances of getting sponsorship from my work place.
For what it's worth, my current role isn't too bad. I only go into the office once a week and my job is basically taking calls and talking to people.
I've always been good at talking to people, so this has allowed me excel at the role. I even host coaching and mentoring sessions despite having less than one year experience in the role.
Despite my growth in the role, I have bigger plans for myself and would like to get a better role. So, internally, I've been chasing low level management positions that could set me on the path to bigger opportunities.
My decision to embark on getting certifications is largely because outside of my current work place, I don't have experience working in insurance so, getting qualifications will set me apart in my quest for better opportunities.
I'll have to be aggressive about my quest for certifications and work harder than I've worked in a while. I've set a three month target to complete the certifications and with the right amount of drive, I'll definitely get it done.
