Just yesterday I was writing an article about reaching 50k Hive Power milestone and it got me boosted with excitement and motivation to aim higher. While this is a great achievement of its own and the number of HP is pretty sweet, in the same time I've looked to see how I am ranking on the Hive blockchain and I found myself on position 368 in the Leaderboard. My first reaction when I've seen this I said to myself: it cannot be truth, I am ranking so high in such a vast blockchain! And another wave of excitement came rushing over me. These alone are great stats, but my next goal is to become Orca. While there is some math that can be done in order to find out how much HP I would need for that, I will use as alternative the Ranking from HiveBuzz and check the lowest Orca ranking, which seems to be in the amount of 60,810 Hive Power. I was hoping for that to be less, but it is what it is and that means I need another 10,000 Hive Power to get there. Quite a bunch of Hive to gather until that goal, but even if it will take me quite a bit, I will get there.
One thing I’ve learned over the years is that staking Hive into Hive Power is about gaining the independence to make a decent earning, but also have a stronger voice in this ecosystem. The goals of reaching certain Hive Power is motivating and feels amazing, while bringing additional perks along with that. Having higher Hive Power, not only that I am increasing my power in the blockchain decisions like supporting witnesses, DHF funding, but also lets me earn more from curating other's content. That also translates into growth as it tends to bring more followers like bees to the honey. Bottom line, the power behind staking Hive, is that you have a voice in this ecosystem.
I am not someone hungry by power and I have no problem staying in the shadow while I am enjoying the sweet benefits of earn better curation rewards. Back when I started, I didn’t fully get it and I thought rewards were only about creating content. But the more Hive Power you have, the more impact your upvotes for other's content carry, and in return you earn curation rewards. This is a true win-win situation: I support content that I am interested in and that I appreciate and in the same time I also get rewarded for helping the ecosystem engage and grow. While I enjoy reading content, even find amazing advices and opportunities, I also take it as a responsibility to do curation on a daily basis. This way this ecosystem doesn't get "frozen" of inactivity and in the same time the return from curation is kept at engaging levels. Leaving your vote staying idle at 100%, means that you simply don't earn from your Hive Power.
So while my eyes are set on that Orca badge, I remind myself daily that the journey matters just as much as the milestone. Every Hive powered up is a step toward stronger power, better rewards and growth through active participation and engagement. I’ve learned patience is key and that it doesn’t matter if I reach Orca next month or next year, because the real joy is in setting goals, reaching them and benefiting from the perks gather along the way. Thus, while next I need to get 10k Hive Power, I will try to celebrate smaller increments towards it: maybe even at each 1k, but if too often I will settle at each 5k. Or whenever I feel I made a good jump towards my goal.
The crypto market is doing its own thing, I took some profits and will take some other, but Hive will not make me rich at this point. I have no strategy to sell Hive in this bull run, thus for me it remains to keep building, keep curating and keep aiming higher. This way I will be climbing the Hive blockchain ranking one step at a time and who knows, maybe one day, I can even be the king of the hill.😀😀

It is already relatively close to the short-term goal, maybe new Orca On Q4 2025
I'm in the same situation where I really want to increase my HP stack at the current price, as I still enjoy Hive after many years and will almost surely still be here in the future. At the same time, I also just want to make financially sound decisions.
Hive is in a weird spot, if it goes up from here x2 or x3 it would feel like 'it's obvious' as the 0.2$ price feels so cheap with the potential to get a real adoption wave. At the same time, if Hive continues to just grind down from here, I would also feel like 'it's obvious' as almost everyone, even at current prices, is still just dumping what they are earning since so many approach Hive as a cash cow where they believe the content is actually worth what they earn which it's not. In a way, it's a small miracle that Hive still has a 100 Million+ Market Cap with HBD holding at a 1$ peg.
Many are selling, few are buying as there are not enough incentives. The thing I would like to see is a mentality change where individual users and mainly curation projects stop upvoting the value extractors and require users to have a relatively low KE Ratio.
50K target!!!, I have to sit up. An encouraging one friend, this are such articles I love looking at. It boost my confidence for Hive.
