So I woke up this morning to scan through my Peakd Profile, and I noticed this number right on my profile.
I can't seem to find any publication or announcement by peakd, but upon doing a little research, I figured it out.
Apparently, @azircon thought of KE, and has been working on it and with it alongside some others for a while now on the backend, but Peakd recently made it public and easily accessible so anyone can see it.
KE stands for Krampus Coefficient and is calculated by summing up all the rewards you have ever earned (Author rewards + Curation rewards), and dividing it by your Staked hive.
Generally, a lower KE signifies that you have staked more. If your KE is less than 1, it means you've invested external money to stake hive. If your KE is equal to 1, it means you have staked every single thing you have earned to stake hive. And anything higher than that signifies how much hive you've sold relative to the amount you've earned.
It is hard to say what this means, but Azircon thought of it as a different type of reputation system, and I believe he's been using that as a criterion when curating for a while now. Now that it's publicly displayed on the profile, it could factor a lot more in some people's decision on whether to curate or not, both consciously and unconsciously. It would also affect some people's decisions on whether or not to withdraw their hive.
As for me though, it is pretty much business as usual, but it is fun just to check scores. Nice work from the ever innovative @Peakd team.
In the end, this is a decentralised space, and everyone is free to do what makes them happy with their money. Hope you've found this insightful
edit: In case you're interested in reading about Azircon's thought process concerning KE, here's two blogs of his 1, 2
I had heard of this a while back from the Saturday Savers team, but you've broken it down much more simply and a lot of people can benefit from this. Nicely done, B0s. I guess I could be called a profiting investor?😄
Hehe, yes oo. The majority of us are profit takers, that's the main thing with a platform like this. You invest time or money and make a profit.
Same here o. We profiting investors plenty.
Wow. This is interesting and I just had to understand what it means. So barely now, mine is greater than 1 which means I have withdrawn and took profits 😀😀
Well, if it's like how you explained it, I don't think it should be a criteria for getting curated or not.
Thanks for the clarification.
Yeah, you're welcome. You're a profit taker just like me 😁
I have really been wondering what it meant. Thank you so much for explaining.
You're welcome. Happy to help
I took a lot of profit 😅 but I don't wont this show in public 🤐
Hehe Need to work on that... My goal is to make that 6.6 to below 4 or something 😅
Let see...
Thanks for sharing it in detail
Anyone can go look in the chain to see that, even if you go and buy HIVE back to power up to improve the KE :)
hmmm Hey Mr. Holoz0r, so how can we improve our KE 🤔

Great feature even though I'm still mainly just using the Hive.blog interface, maybe I should switch.
I'm trying to keep mine below 1 :)
