How Did The Week Go ?

Overview

It's been a busy but good week ! With my new business website finally launched (or re-launched, really, as it replaces the old one we had), there's been a certain amount of the inevitable glitch-fixing. The good news is that it's been better than expected, so all the hard work before launch is definitely paying off.

Despite being busy in real life, I've managed to keep up posting, and managed to earn a Hivebuzz Monthly Author badge 😃 So far I've managed to post every day this year, but I'm far too realistic to expect that I'll be able to keep that up forever, so I'm still taking it day by day and mostly just focusing on total number of posts rather than when they're posted.

Hive Power

I'm still not really on target with my HP earnings, but I'm also managing to stay consistently 3% under the target. Admittedly powering up 50 HIVE for today's HPUD helped, but with real world bills to pay I'm not in a position right now to add more fiat to buy extra liquid HIVE.

HBD

An option to get my HP earnings back on track is to convert HBD earnings to HIVE, especially now while the prices are in the toilet.

But that messes with my unofficial goal of getting to 40HBD interest a month. The interest that came in this week was 31.159 HBD, up from 30.1 last month, so it's definitely heading in the right direction.

It's certainly the case that the GBP value of my HBD earnings is starting to noticeably run away from my HP rewards, but that's more a reflection of the price of HIVE.

I have to admit that over the long term, HIVE seems to be adopting some of the characteristics of a stablecoin itself, although with a wide spread on the peg. With the exception of three or four spikes, it's spent most of it's entire existence in a band between $0.18 and $0.35. Since mid 2022 peaks rarely get over 50 cents no matter what other altcoins are doing, but (so far) it hasn't dipped below about 15 cents since 2021.

Tribey Stuff

On the tribe token front, prices are generally quite down, just reflecting overall market confidence, or rather lack of it. The fear/greed index is currently at 20, indicating extreme fear, and that is reflected in prices.

It's frustrating that the general economy is in the same state of mind, meaning I'm not earning enough fiat to capitalise on the opportunity !

Something I did wonder about, and perhaps someone more knowledgeable than me can put a comment in that helps answer it.... how do we calculate the actual market capital value of tribe tokens. My simple monkey-brain says it's just a case of multiplying the current dollar price by the number of that token circulating. But is it really that obvious ? Is that an accurate reflection of the initial investment by the creator plus the fiat value of SWAP.HIVE used by holders to buy the token ? How does this account for tokens created through tipping bots etc ?

I have this crazy idea that by working out the market cap of the main tribe tokens (because doing all of them is a recipe for insanity) it might be possible to get an idea of the total level 2 market cap. Which prompts the next question; does the market cap shown on exchanges include or exclude the market cap hiding in level 2 ?
