Saturday Savers 2025 Progress Report - Week 51

I'm late and missed a week last week, but here (finally !) is my #SaturdaySavers week 51 update.

How Did The Week Go ?

This was very much a week where real life was the priority. Running an e-commerce business in the week or so before the last posting day for Christmas is pretty full-on !

I've made a couple of Hive posts, and kept up with curation to a certain extent, but it's been very much a case of fitting it into odd moments here and there.

Probably the main thing that happened was that the brief dip in the price of HIVE a couple of days ago triggered one of my HiveDex trades, turning 500 HBD into 5574 liquid HIVE. Some of that will enable me to make the first HPUD of 2026 in a few days time a nicely impressive one.

One thing it did make me realise is that HiveDex's exchange rates lag behind Coingecko's prices by a very significant timespan, and the lows on HiveDex don't seem to be as low as those reported by Coingecko. I guess it's to allow some slippage so that the costs of running HiveDex are covered.

Something I saw which saddened me, but is totally understandable is that after 5 years of running SaturdaySavers, @shanibeer is retiring from it and closing it down. I totally get the logic - it must be exhausting doing this (and doing it very successfully !) for such a long period, on top of everything else she does. So it's definitely a case of saying a big "thank you" - without #SaturdaySavers, my Hive account would be nowhere near as well developed as it is. The project has given me a real kick in the pants to help me stay on track !

Next year, assuming no-one takes over running #SaturdaySavers (and no, sorry, I'm not volunteering - I know that realistically I can't commit that kind of time !) I plan to still create goals and post updates. I think what I will probably do is post them to the BusyBees Community since so many Saturday Savers are also members of that group, which is run by @zakludick primarily as a way to encourage and teach newer Hive members. The community is a bit under-used right now, so it seems like a good way to bring it to life.

So with that, I'll close off for this week, and wish all of my Saturday Saver friends a massive MERRY CHRISTMAS ! 😁

If you're not familiar with SaturdaySavers, it's a fabulous initiative run by @shanibeer writing as @sally-saver on the @eddie-earner account, where we all support each other in getting to our savings goals.

If you are one of my friends reading this (or just someone who tripped over one of my posts), I really recommend this as a great community that's well worth joining.

I'm normally very disorganised about saving, and the support of the wonderful people in #SaturdaySavers has been invaluable in keeping me focused. I can honestly say that without it, my HP would probably be half what it is now.

So join ! You don't have to wait until the start of the year. The best time to start saving is ten years ago. The second best time is right now !
