Saturday Savers 2025 Progress Report - Week 28

It's Saturday already, and I'm melting in the heatwave ! England is set up for keeping us warm in winter, not keeping us cool in summer....

But I'm still typing this #SaturdaySavers out on a keyboard that's getting more slippery with sweat by the minute. 😆

How Did The Week Go ?

I was highly inactive this week for both posting and curating. Naughty me ! But I'm going to quote the heat as my excuse. I know most of you are in countries where it's always hotter than here, but that means you're used to it and ready to deal with it. We're not !

Despite that, I've had a respectable week in terms of gains as earnings from the previous week came in. My HBD earnings were given a nice 3 HBD boost as I was lucky enough to be the winner of the latest Literary Games contest by @allentaylor 😀

Another useful factor is that the US Dollar to British Pound exchange rate has swung again, giving a rate of 1.35 USD per GBP, down from 1.37 last week. It's not that the dollar has stopped crashing, it's just that the pound is crashing harder. Probably a combination of the chancellor seen in tears, totally unable to cope and out of her depth in parliament (in previous times, she might have been politely described as "tired and emotional" - this time it was blamed on a personal issue), combined with the UK economy unexpectedly sliding into a technical recession.

A weaker pound isn't good when it comes to buying more crypto, but it might help British exports, and. It also increases the relative value of dollar-denominated crypto's, although the nature of volatility is that this only becomes relevant at the point where I decide to sell.
