Red Belt: Honor and Philosophy in the World of Martial Arts

Hello, good afternoon, today I want to talk to you about a great movie that few people know about, I'm talking about Red Belt.

The main theme is honorability, personal integrity. It is about a Jiu-Jitsu master (also called jiu-jitsu, ju-jutsu, tai-jutsu, yawara and yawara-ge) "fence tongue-swallower" well we know him as Jiu-Jitsu that its roots are from Japan and is based on the principle that the soft overcomes the hard "eyyyyyyyyyyyyyy"

The story is about a master who has a strict ethical code, who rejects all martial arts competitions and any form of commercial exploitation of his art (i.e. the old school) the complete opposite of his master's son who organizes a tournament to win the red belt (which is the highest rank in this martial art)

The brother, as he calls the master's son, invites him to the tournament, which he rejects, then a series of events occur so that he is forced to go, but everything develops in the opposite way since the fight was between brothers to achieve such prestige.

Cast of the film

  • Emily Mortimer as Laura Black, a woman who accidentally interferes in Terry's life.
  • Tim Allen as Chet Frank, a movie star who becomes involved in Terry's plot.
  • Alice Braga as Sondra Terry, Mike's wife.
  • Randy Couture, a famous MMA fighter, also appears in the film, adding a touch of authenticity to the fight scenes
Although the script was highly praised, it was not a box office success, but it did gain followers among those interested in martial arts. It is a very good film and I recommend it 100%
