Hello @motherhood community,
Being a working mom is not easy especially when you are a teacher. Today marks a significant milestone—the first day of school for both my son and me. As a mother and a teacher, my heart is filled with excitement and worry. The day began early at 4:00 AM, as I prepared rice and viands for our breakfast and lunch. My son, still drowsy, drifted back to sleep, and I gently urged him to wake up. “We need to be early,” I reminded him. Soon, he was up, taking a bath, donning his crisp uniform, and eating breakfast
Meanwhile, I juggled my own tasks—ensuring he was ready while preparing myself for the day ahead. My husband, equally supportive, started his early duties, driving us both to our respective schools.
As we approached his school, my heart tightened. It was his first day in junior high school. Would he be okay? Could he adjust?
At my school, the opening program was in full swing. Teachers were introduced, and the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Yet, my thoughts wandered to my son. Did he find his classroom? Was he settling in? During lunch, I stole a moment to check on him and felt relieved to hear he had eaten.
As the school day ended, I nervously called him. “Are you home?” I asked. His cheerful voice calmed me: “Yes, Ma! I made new friends!” A wave of relief washed over me. My son was thriving, taking his first steps toward independence.
Balancing motherhood and teaching is no easy feat, but moments like these make it worthwhile. I whispered a prayer of gratitude, thankful for his resilience and the support of my family. Today wasn’t just the first day of school—it was a reminder of strength, love, and the beauty of new beginnings.
Love,
