Hello Hello Hivians.
The East Neuk of Fife in Scotland is a hidden gem and somewhere close to my heart as it is where my grandparents lived.

We start on the High Road of Pittenweem and head inland to the coast.

This being Scotland you never know the weather, but you are guaranteed gorgeous views.

Ultimately we shall be going down to SeaLevel and the village of Pittenweem.

Back when I was a boy and that was a fair while ago, there was a crazy golf course here and I remember playing many a game down here.

So I was pleasantly surprised to see it looking so good!

However upon speaking to the lady in the kiosk I found it that there is now a community group that looks after and they have a facebook page The West Braes Project and website too The West Braes Project Tidal Pool

The crazy golf was refurbished and reopened in 2016.

Notice boards are a great thing, and the one outside this Loo had some great information!

I am sure @livinguktaiwan would be impressed with that view and the award they got!

Fluffing heck!

The view and I remember as a kid clambering down this hill, there was no guided path back then lol!

The renovations included this wee climbing frame and swings for the kids.

Sealife & Rockpools

West Braes Viewpoint

Do you recognise seeing Bass Rock on that info board.

The Tidal Pool has been a long time favourite facility at the West Braes of Pittenweem. It has been enjoyed for decades by the local community and originally boasted a spring board, chute and pontoon, but had fallen into disrepair after the local authority were no longer able to maintain it and marked it unsafe.
There was also an 18 hole crazy golf course that was saved by the project and this is supported by local businesses sponsoring holes by advertising and painting their hole. The west facing bench at the shelter was also rescued and reinstated, much to the appreciation of locals who had used it to watch the world go by for a lifetime.
Yes I swam in there as a kid!!

West Braes Birds
Well our wee welcoming committee of the Sparrows didn't amke the list of birds!

St Monans to the South

Talk about a relaxing place to sit and watch the world go by!

2025 saw the installation of solar panels and a wind turbine. The main equipment was purchased with a grant from the Helen Main Trust.
The mast for the turbine was supplied by KM Duncan Agricultural Engineering Ltd and much thanks to them.
I love this going green even if it is all coloured blue, they must have known I was coming!

Surely not the wee blue Scottie lol!

Whilst I have seen many Puffins I don't remember seeing them from shore here!

And I sure as fluff never saw a blue whale!

This has now become a thing. You can walk sections in a day if you want.
This part as you can see is the West Braes to Pittenweem section.

The closer we get the bigger it becomes.

What a view when munching these tasty sweet treats!

A boat! What the fluff, shouldn't that be in the sea?

Well the beach has not much changed in the years!

Even seaglass here!
Mind you I never collected it as a kid. I did however, collect sticks, coz you know they were great swords!

We leave with the beach at Pittenweem and soon we shall venture to Pittenweem Harbour!

I never would have guessed they have putt putt across the pond!
hehe this is where golf was started lol Seriously St Andrews where the official home of golf is, has the Himalayas which was the world's first putting course. It is still there and as the name suggests has big hills so you putted blind. It was for women and kids who were banned from proper golf course. Then over time it became crazier and concrete etc and you guys called it putt putt lol
Very interesting! :)
I enjoyed going down the beach with all the awesome views you gave us. This must have brought lots of good memories as a young child with your grandparents. I tried to keep the beach and its surroundings clean and maintained, including the golf area.
We are lucky and things are kept clean as a general rule. The views though are special I think.
Seems Scottish people are generally clean. π

So much beautiful scenery! I especially loved the big blue dog and the mini golf course. That looked like a lot of fun. The path along the waterfront also looked so inviting. Great job on all of those Ed!
How has the day treated you over there?
Ah the big blue Scottie dog was cute. Yeah was a fun wee walk and is part of the coastal path that runs through our county.
Oh the day was good and interesting yesterday. We had a broadband outage for a few hours which scuppered my work from home activities.
A good clean loo is very important for a day out !!!ππ
Did you do a coastal walk? I can imagine that being very nice
We live on the Fife coastal walk, so I quite often do parts of it. It was a good loo though hehe

There is nothing like finding clean public restrooms!! I loved the flower pots, especially the one with the bicycle. I imagine that as a child you had a lot of fun running and jumping on those hills. Childhood should be a place we could return to! Hugs
Hehe clean restrooms oh you are so right! The flower pot holders were cute. Oh yes running up and down the hills and swimming in the sea was fun! I hope you had a good day back teaching. Big hugs.

We are already looking forward to reading more about your adventures!
You have probably noticed a lot of differences between now and the time when you were a kid, visiting your grandparents... But, from the "foreigner" view, it looks like a nice, small, quiet town with fantastic views, and path trails where I would enjoy taking long walks!
As we had rain and storms last few days, I can perfectly imagine myself doing this walk with you... lol... π
Thanks for sharing! It looks so peaceful! I like it!

It was fun to compare to then and now. On the surface it looked the same. The houses were the same, but many of the locals had sold up and the second home/Airbnb brigade had moved in. So the old community feel with fishermen etc has gone and been replaced with tourists and posh folk feel. But it was fun showing Mrs T what I would do as a kid.
We appreciate your work and your publication has been hand selected by the geography curation team on behalf of the Amazing Nature AN Community. Keep up the good work!
hmm let me guess you made a mess ππ

The scenery along the Fife Coastal Path is stunning and your photos bring out that raw, authentic coastal magic. The East Neuk really has that peaceful charm that makes you want to slow down, breathe the sea air and just take it all in.
I really think so too. Mind you I love the sea air as I find it my calming spot. Which is probably why I live on the coast lol!
