Let me take you on a short trip to my enchanting hometown that I’m so proud to call home, my very own Kabayan, Benguet! It’s a small and humble town, yet it holds so much natural beauty and rich culture that never fails me and make me proud of.

But before that, I’d like to greet everyone here on Hive, especially my fellow travelers and adventurers here @worldmappin! I’m really excited to share a glimpse of my hometown, Kabayan, Benguet.

Kabayan may be small, but it’s blessed with countless natural attractions, from towering mountains and beautiful lakes to pine covered hills and vegetable gardens that stretch along the slopes that look like the famous Banaue Rice Terraces. It’s a perfect destination for a getaway, escapade, or a trekking and mountaineering adventure.

The scenery here is breathtaking, the lush green mountains crowned with pine trees and mossy forest kissed by the blue sky. Everywhere you look, you’ll find gardens filled with different crops since farming is the main source of livelihood here. Because Kabayan is a mountainous place, the roads are mostly uphill and winding, just like the twists and turns of a chicken’s intestine! If you’re not used to this kind of terrain or road, you must be prepared because you must feel dizzy and nauseated.

Kabayan is home of the third-highest mountain in the Philippines which is Mt. Pulag, one of the most famous climbing destinations in the country and known for its “sea of clouds,” that attracts hikers and nature lovers from all over the world.

But that’s not all, there are also four magical lakes found right in my own barangay. Each lake has its own beauty, story and mystery, that's why Kabayan is often called “The Mystical Town of Benguet.”

You can also find the centuries-old mummies here that is one of the silent witnesses of our rich history and culture. They’re among the most fascinating heritage treasures in the Cordillera region.

I’ll take you on a proper tour soon once I’ve fully documented everything. For now, let me continue introducing you to the beauty and attractions of my hometown.

Our community lives on agriculture. We grow a wide variety of vegetables such as potatoes, broccoli, carrots, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, cauliflower, and many more. The gardens, arranged in terraces along the slopes, resemble the famous rice terraces, a true masterpiece created by the hands of hardworking locals. The views here are stunning, relaxing, and awe-inspiring the view or scene that instantly soothes your soul.

People in Kabayan speak two main dialects, the Ibaloi and Kalanguya, which happens to be my own dialect. Despite our different dialects, we share one identity, we are all IGOROTS. Strong, resilient, and deeply connected to the land we call home.

Every day, we thank God for the natural beauty and wonders He has blessed us with. We cherish and protect our surroundings, knowing not everyone is fortunate enough to wake up to such magnificent views.

That’s a little glimpse of my beloved hometown Kabayan, Benguet. I hope you liked it! Thank you so much for reading my simple blog. I truly appreciate your time and support. Always remember to keep smiling and stay safe wherever your adventures take you.
Mabuhay!
