Gurez Valley Jammu and Kashmir India

Gurez Valley

Kashmir is one of the most beautiful tourist places in the world, and it is also known as the paradise on earth.

There are so many tourist places in Kashmir, and Gurez is one of them. Gurez ValleyIt is located away from the district of Bandipora, Kashmir, at an elevation of 8000 feet above sea level and 125 kilometers away from Srinagar. Razdan Pass is the highest point of the road that connects Srinagar and Gurez.

This pass remains always cloudy and rainy. The total population of the tehsil is 38 thousand as per the 2011 census. Jammu and Kashmir is known for its language diversification, but Gurez is spoken apart from that, like Shina, Kashmiri, and Dard Shina, which resembles Ladakh and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Kishanganga (Neelum) River flows through its length in between the mountains. The road remains closed for almost six months due to environmental factors like sliding, heavy snowfall, and shooting stones, or simply, we can say that there is a harsh winter.

The essential and emergency services were operated through helicopters from Gurez to Srinagar with minimal fare. Mostly maximum people do migration for six months to the different parts of the valley, and the rest of them remain there. The essential food items, like dals, cereals, and dry vegetables, are kept in the safest place so that they can eat them in the upcoming harsh winter.

The health system and infrastructure are not well developed because of the road issue; they are vulnerable to the weather. The people of the valley are likely to visit Government Medical College, Sheri-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science, and other reputed health institutes. The Gurez Valley lies close to the Line of Control, and this boundary halts the actual movement, land use, and tourism, which directly or indirectly affects the tourism economy.

TourismThere are a number of tourist places in the Gurez Valley, which are Dawar, Habba Khatoon Peak, Kishanganga Dam, Tulail Valley, etc. Dawar is the main tourist place where tourists used to stay. The Neelum River flows through its length.

Tulail Valley is 80 kilometers away from the Dawar Gurez. The road is very clear, but you need to drive safely. One side of the road is a deep gorge. There is not too much population in the Tulail Valley. The beautiful tall mountains are pretty under the clear blue sky. Pine forests, lush meadows, and old wooden houses. The Tulail Valley is also known as Little Ladakh. Tulail Valley is 80 kilometers away from the Dawar Gurez. The road is very clear, but you need to drive safely; one side of the road is a deep gorge.
