In the Philippines, being a Boy Scout is more than wearing a uniform or tying knots. It is about helping people, caring for nature, and being a good person. Boy Scouts do many activities like camping, hiking, planting trees, and helping in the community.
These activities teach working together, being disciplined, and respecting nature. For many young people, scouting is also a way to make friends and see new places. Every trip and activity is a chance to learn, grow, and have fun.
On the second day of our school-based Boy Scout encampment, we had our tree planting and hiking activity. Our scout master told us that these would happen in the area of Kauswagan Falls. Everyone was excited. Kauswagan Falls is not yet tagged in Google Maps and is still undiscovered by the tourism department of the municipality of Aurora.
The hike took about an hour. The trail went up and down a sloping mountain. We passed through narrow paths and steep parts. Some trails were easy, while others were challenging. The sun was warm on not shady areas, but the air felt fresh.
When we finally reached Kauswagan Falls, it was worth it. The place was beautiful. The water flowed over big slippery rocks. The sound of the falls blended with the chirping of the birds was relaxing. The campers enjoyed their bath, swimming, and diving into the flowing water.
The trek was not easy. There were times we had to climb up rocks or cross the river by holding onto a rope. Some parts made us laugh because we almost slipped, but we helped each other.
In the end, our activities were a success. We planted trees, enjoyed nature, and had fun together. It was a day we will always remember.
That day at Kauswagan Falls was not just about planting trees or hiking. It was about teamwork, friendship, and caring for nature. We came back to the campsite tired, but happy. The memories we made will stay with us for a long time, just like the trees we planted will grow for years to come.

That's so exciting! It's great to have an opportunity for everyone to be an explorer and go on their own scouting adventures!
It is really a challenging and enjoyable way of exploring nature for them to realize that as young as they are they have responsibilities too, to take care mother nature. Thank you.
