I’m happy to sit down and share something with you today. Recently, I got the chance to visit Malaybalay City, the capital of Bukidnon, and I just fell in love with its peaceful and simple charm.

Malaybalay is known as “The City in the Forest”, and honestly, that name fits it perfectly. As soon as we arrived, I could feel the fresh and cool air. Tall pine trees stood proudly by the roads, and mountains surrounded the city like guards. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you feel calm, like your worries can take a little break, too.

We passed by the Capitol Grounds around 6 am. It was a wide, green space in the heart of the city. A few people were having their morning jog, children were running around, and some were just sitting on the benches, chatting or watching the sunrise. It reminded me that happiness doesn’t always come from big things; sometimes, it’s just about being surrounded by peace and good people.

One of the highlights of Malaybalay is Kaamulan Park. It’s a special place that represents the culture and traditions of Bukidnon. The park is a wide, open, green space just below the beautiful Malaybalay City Hall. This is also where the Kaamulan Festival happens every year, a celebration of the province’s seven tribes. The festival is colorful, full of music, dances, and stories that show how rich and united the people are. I wasn’t there during the festival, but even just being in the park made me feel its cultural spirit.

What I truly loved was the morning atmosphere. The city wakes up slowly, the fog gently covers the roads, the air smells like coffee and freshly baked bread, and you can hear birds singing from the trees. It’s such a simple thing, but it made my heart so full. I remember standing there, just breathing it all in, thinking how nice it feels to pause and enjoy life’s quiet moments.

Malaybalay may not be as big or busy as other cities, but that’s exactly what makes it special. It’s growing, new cafés, schools, and small shops are popping up, but it still keeps its natural charm and peaceful way of life. People here are warm, friendly, and always ready to welcome visitors with a smile.
