This is the eleventh post of the Manali Leh Highway series, in the previous posts of this series you have seen Himalayan Shepherds, Life of Changpa Tribe, Himalayan Rickshaw Run, Lahaul Valley, Maure Plains, Tanglang La, Naki La, Leh and landscapes of Rohtang Pass and in this Know about the colored earth. Today in this series we will see the views of Lahaul Valley, the most beautiful valley of Manali Leh Highway.
Although Himachal Pradesh is full of beautiful hill valleys, such as Churah Valley, Balh Valley, Parvati Valley, Pin Valley, Spiti Valley, Chamba Valley, Kangra Valley, Pangi Valley, Baspa Valley, Bhabha Valley, Kullu Valley, Lagg Baili, Miyar Valley, Sutlej Valley, Solang Valley and Habban Valley. Among all these valleys, there is one valley, Lahaul Valley, this valley has many specialties which make it different from all the other valleys.
The road approach here is suitable for all tourists, tourists can reach here in about 50 minutes by traveling from Manali using Atal Tunnel. This valley situated along the Chandra River is home to high snowy mountains. The temperature here in summer goes up to 30 degrees and in winter the temperature here goes up to -15 degrees. Earlier in winter this valley used to get buried under snow but now due to construction of tunnel this valley remains open for tourists even in winter.
Go to Lahaul by taking the Rohtang Pass course or reach here by crossing the Atal Tunnel. In both the cases, Spiti route will come on your right hand side from which you cross the Kunzum Pass and enter another special valley of Himachal. And if you go left then you can go to Leh and Zanskar valley via Lahaul. Lahaul Valley is the gateway to Spiti, Leh and Zanskar Valley.
Hindus and Buddhists have been living together here for centuries. There is a lot of farming here in summer. Nowadays, apple farming is at its peak here. Without writing much, I refer you to the photos of this post. I hope you will like these Himalayan mountains.
