Finding Solace at Tamayong Prayer Mountain, Davao City Philippines

I had been longing for a peaceful escape when in early 2020, I finally made my way to Prayer Mountain at Tamayong, Davao City. The moment I stepped out of the car, a cool mountain breeze enveloped me, filling my lungs with fresh, invigorating air. You can say, “naa pa ba ko sa Davao”.

Morning light filtered softly through the tall pine trees, and the first thing I noticed was how spotlessly clean everything was, not a single scrap of litter disturbed the pristine grounds.

I felt an immediate sense of calm wash over me as I took in the beautiful view of rolling green hills that stretched out toward the horizon.I can’t stop not taking pictures of these views.

Walking along the winding stone paths, I was amazed by the lush greenery all around. The gardens were beautifully maintained, with flowers blooming in vibrant colors and foliage so dense and green it almost felt like a jungle. Birds chirped melodically in the branches above, and in the distance I heard the faint echo of a chapel bell, reminding me that this place was meant for prayer and reflection.

Every breath I took felt purer, every sound fainter , aside from the rustling leaves and birdsong, the silence was profound. The atmosphere was so serene that I could barely contain my awe.I can say that I can pray peacefully here.

What struck me most about Prayer Mountain was its deeply inspiring ambiance. There were small shrines and quiet nooks scattered through the grounds, each one inviting me to stop and reflect. At one spot overlooking the valley, I paused to sit on a wooden bench and simply closed my eyes.

The cool air brushed against my face, and the faint scent of blooming flowers and damp earth settled all around me. In that moment, surrounded by nature’s beauty and tranquility, I felt a profound sense of spiritual refreshment and gratitude. I can say to myself I can live here forever.

All the stress and noise of the city felt miles away as I lingered in that peaceful silence. "Maka ingun gud ka sa imung sarili na, sa picture lang man naku ni makita".

As I reluctantly prepared to leave, I felt completely rejuvenated and thankful for this little adventure. The simple beauty of Prayer Mountain had amazed me, and I knew it was worth every effort to come. This was not just a scenic spot, but a place that quietly nurtured the soul.

Looking back on that morning, I’m still in awe of how such a spot of peace exists so close to the bustling city of Davao. Anyone seeking a breath of fresh air and a moment of spiritual calm should add Prayer Mountain at Tamayong to their itinerary, it truly is a hidden oasis worth visiting but now as what I’ve heard still closed for the visitation but still the place preserved.
