AN ADVENTURE TO REMEMBER WITH THE FAMILY: EXPLORING CAMPAWAN CURTAIN FALLS IN BAGANGA, DAVAO ORIENTAL PHILIPPINES

After our enchanting visit to Aliwagwag Falls, our journey continued to our third stop: Campawan Curtain Falls in Baganga, Davao Oriental. The destination was beautiful, but getting there was no easy feat—it was an adventure in itself!

The road leading to Curtain Falls was challenging, so much so that we couldn’t take our van. Instead, we had to walk because the road was too damaged for vehicles. At one point, we crossed a broken bridge with a stream flowing underneath, only to find that we needed to ride a "habal-habal" (motorcycle) to reach the area. It cost ₱100 per person, and I thought the adventure ended there—but I was wrong!

To get to the falls, we still had to cross a bamboo bridge. It required careful, slow steps because one misstep could send you tumbling into the river below or onto the sharp rocks. The trek was about 50 kilometers, but every step was worth it.

When we finally arrived, the sight of Curtain Falls took our breath away. The cascading water truly resembled a curtain, with a gentle flow that was mesmerizing. The serene beauty of the place made us forget the challenging journey. However, after two hours of enjoying the tranquil atmosphere, the weather suddenly shifted. Dark clouds rolled in, and the gentle flow of water turned into a strong, rushing stream.

The locals were incredibly accommodating and warned us not to swim as the water levels could rise unexpectedly. Taking their advice seriously, we decided to leave the area before it became too dangerous. The trek back was just as adventurous, but we were grateful to have experienced such a stunning natural wonder.

Curtain Falls wasn’t just a destination—it was an adventure filled with challenges, awe-inspiring sights, and valuable lessons in respecting nature’s power. It’s a memory we’ll cherish forever!
