On our trip to Chicago last June, we set aside one afternoon to take a stroll around the Navy Pier area. This pier has an amusement park, several cafes, and restaurants. It’s a pretty touristy area, which isn’t usually the kind of place that appeals to me the most when I want to explore a city. But we wanted to go there to enjoy the views of the lake and the Chicago skyline on a summer afternoon.
In the summer, the city comes alive with people on the streets and children playing in the parks and green spaces. We started our walk at the intersection of Streeter Dr. and Grand Ave.

We continued along Grand Ave. to explore the Navy Pier area. It was a weekday, so even though there were people around, it wasn’t as crowded as it usually is on summer weekends.

As we walked, the moment we set foot on the pier, we were treated to magnificent views of the city skyline and Lake Michigan.

And the ducks swimming in the lake seemed to be enjoying their dip with a view as well, hehe.

We continued on our way and passed the entrance to the amusement park with its huge Ferris wheel, but we kept walking, we wanted to reach the end of the pier.

From here, you can take sightseeing boat tours on the lake, and there are several options, such as these speedboats.

But if I were to take one of those tours, I’d probably choose a traditional sailboat.

This one, called Windy, seemed fitting for a cruise through the Windy City don't you think?. What would you choose, a sail on Windy or one on the Seadog?

During our tour, we came across a Dippin’ Dots ice cream stand, and my son felt like a kid again and had one, hehe.

While he enjoyed his ice cream, we took in the views. And I managed to capture this seagull in flight.

This lighthouse looks like it’s straight out of a painting. A perfect view.

We came to an area where there was plenty of space to rest and sit down to enjoy the views, so that’s exactly what we did.

Here, even the seagulls seemed to be taking in the lake scenery.

After spending some time enjoying the magical view of the lighthouse, we continued on toward the end of the pier.

From the end point, we enjoyed the beautiful views of the city’s northern skyline in the Lincoln Park and Uptown areas.

Here, the wind felt even stronger; it’s no wonder Chicago is known as the Windy City.

It was around 7 p.m. on a wonderful summer day; the spot was perfect for sitting down to enjoy and take in the views, but we had to get going to head back. But not before taking one last photo of the lighthouse in the distance. A perfect stroll for a beautiful afternoon.

Everything about this walk through Chicago is beautiful: the architecture, the scenery, the nature, the water, the birds, and that lighthouse that looks like a giant asleep in time. Best regards.
that sailboat named Windy is definitely the right choice for the windy city lol
