A Happy Harvest Season: Enjoying Our Fresh Mangosteen and Durian After Years of Hard Work and Care

1.png

Hello everyone!
It’s finally fruit season again! There’s something special about this time of the year. There is a different kind of happiness when I see the trees full of fruits and finally get the chance to harvest. After all the waiting, hard work, and expenses, seeing fresh mangosteen and durian ready for harvest feels like a little reward from the farm.

But before we get to enjoy the harvest, there is always a story behind it.

When you are just starting to plant, it is not easy at all. Everything begins with land preparation. Since our farm is in a rural area, a lot of the work still has to be done manually. We have to spend for grass cutting, clearing the land, removing weeds, and preparing the area. Of course, I don't want any part of the land to go to waste, so whenever there is available space, we try to plant different kinds of fruit trees.

I’m very thankful because I have my brothers and my father who are really hands-on when it comes to the farm. I usually just send the money needed for the expenses, while they take care of the actual work and everything that needs to be done.

My brother is also very generous with me. Whenever he has a new fruit variety that he wants to plant, he usually includes me in the project. I just pay him for my share afterward, but honestly, I get a lot more help than what I actually pay for! Maybe that’s one of the perks of being the youngest sister. 🤣

And now, it’s harvest season again. I’m happy because we can harvest mangosteen this year. As for the durian, my brother takes care of it and simply includes my share whenever he delivers fruits to his regular buyers.

Now, he also told me about another project that we could work on together. I’m excited about it, but honestly, I’m still struggling financially right now. We are building our farmhouse, and we also had significant expenses when my mother-in-law was hospitalized.

So for now, I’m taking things slowly and trusting the process. Hopefully, next year, we can start working on our farm plans again. My brother mentioned that maybe we can try planting a different variety of jackfruit next.

Farming continues to teach me patience. You plant today, take care of it, wait for months or even years, and eventually, you get to enjoy the fruit of your labor.

For now, I’m grateful for every harvest, every helping hand, and every little progress.
Thank you for reading my farm story. These are my own picture, the lead photo was edited in Canva.

Have a nice day!💛
