THE MAN WHO SMILED AT HIS OWN HEARTBREAK 💔

Today's prompt is suppress the feeling.

Musa has loved Laila since they were in secondary school.

Everybody in Unguwar Rimi knew it. Laila knew it too, but she pretended not to know.

Musa was waiting for the right time. He was doing small keke business, saving money. He told his friend Jamilu, "Once I buy my own keke, I will go and tell her father."

Last week, Jamilu came to Musa's house. His face was not bright.

Jamilu said, "Musa, I want to marry Laila. Her father has agreed."

Musa's heart broke into pieces. But he could not shout. He could not fight. Because Laila was not his wife. He never asked.

He just said, "Congratulations...."

Yesterday was the wedding...

Musa wore his best kaftan. He was the one arranging chairs. He was the one carrying drinks. People were hailing him, "Musa you are trying oh, you are a good friend."

Inside the hall, the Imam joined Jamilu and Laila together. Laila was smiling. She looked beautiful.

When people said "You may kiss the bride", Musa felt something heavy enter his chest. Tears wanted to come out. His legs were shaking.

He had to suppress the feeling. He forced a big smile. He clapped loud. He even stood up to dance so nobody would see his eyes.

After the wedding, Musa went back to his small room. He removed his kaftan, sat on the floor, and finally allowed himself to cry....💔😔

He did not cry because Laila married his friend....

He cried because he waited too long to speak.

Sometimes love does not die. We just learn to suppress it and smile.

Ah ... that's a very sad love story.

Musa.. my friend. Man... did you tell her you love her? No? it's not like she's a fortuneteller. So, what's with the crying then? that's your fault. 😆

On a serious note. We could wait for the right moment while someone else handles it. We always get to choose. Ah.. what a lovely and sad story you juz made.
