When I saw today's prompt, I just stared at it. Because this word has two faces.

The first face I knew as a child was from my village. My uncle had a dog, a female dog with four puppies. He always called her his "bitch" and we as kids did not see anything bad in it. It was just the correct name for a female dogg.... That dog was strongg, she protected her puppies, she barked at stranggers, she was a mother...... So for me, the word first meant protector.

The second face came later in secondary school. I heard boys using it to insult girls when they were angry. And it always pained me. How did a word that means a strong mother dog turn into an insult for a woman? It shows how we like to turn strong things into something bad when it is a woman doing it.

If a man is angrry and shouts, they say he is serrious. If a woman shoutss for the same thingg, they call her that word...... If a man protects his own, he is a leader. If a woman protects her own, she is called that word. It is not fair.

So today, I choose to remember the first face. I want to be like that mother dog my uncle had. Strong, loyal, not afraid to bark when something is wrong, ready to protect my own. If being strong and speakingg my mind makes someonee call me that name, then I will take it as a tittle of strenggth, not an insullt.
