Not an economist

source

I am not an economist, but I learned my first lesson in economics at the market. I had gone with just enough money for rice and oil, but when the seller called the new price, I stood there blinking as if she had spoken a strange language. My coins suddenly looked too small in my palm.

That day, I discovered how inflation speaks louder than any textbook. I bargained, I pleaded, I even considered leaving the oil behind. In the end, I carried less than I had planned, but I carried a story.

So no, I am not an economist, but I know what it means when a plate grows smaller while the hunger remains the same.
