Some moments are just too meaningful to let pass without pause. Every year on this day, I find a quiet way to commemorate my graduation from secondary school, a day that remains cool in my heart like golden script.
It was a truly sweet occasion. I remember waking up that morning with a smile on my face, a gentle excitement bubbling within me. I knew it was going to be a great day. The air felt special, as though even the sun rose with extra warmth just for me.
I wore a lovely gown I had picked out carefully, paired with my favorite shoes. My siblings, full of excitement themselves, joined in the preparations. My uncles and aunts arrived too, beaming with pride, ready to celebrate this milestone with me. Their presence made the day feel even more significant like a festival woven with love.
But what made the day unforgettable was the moment I was called up not once, not twice, but three times. I received awards for Best in Art, Best in English, and the highest honor of all- Overall Best Student. Each award felt like a hug from the universe, a beautiful affirmation of my hard work and passion. That moment crowned my joy and left me feeling seen, celebrated, and deeply proud.
Graduation marked the end of one journey and the beginning of another, but it also reminded me that every step, every effort, every late night spent studying was worth it. And so, every year, I pause to relive that day, not just to remember what I achieved, but to honor the version of myself who dared, worked hard, and bloomed.
That’s why I commemorate it, not just the ceremony, but the girl I was and the woman she’s becoming.
