Una de las cosas más interesantes que me pasó en el ámbito laboral fue ver el enorme esfuerzo que uno debía hacer para ganar un ascenso en la empresa privada. Había que estudiar, ser puntual, cumplir con el trabajo, asistir a los cursos internos y dar lo mejor de sí, para ser un trabajador ejemplar y para ser tomado en cuenta por los superiores.

Y realmente, la empresa privada fue una buena escuela, sobre todo en áreas como la responsabilidad, el respeto y el amor al trabajo. Esa escuela fue fundamental para mí, y me ayudó mucho tanto en el ámbito laboral como académico, las enseñanzas recibidas a partir de mi primer empleo.

Recuerdo que, después de varios años de haber iniciado en el mundo laboral, pude terminar mi carrera universitaria, y eso me hizo sentir muy contento, debido a que todo el esfuerzo laboral, la carrera universitaria, la maestría, todo lo había conseguido por esfuerzo propio y lo había pagado con mi trabajo.

Y realmente, ese esfuerzo había valido la pena; tenía un buen empleo, una entrada económica estable, seguro privado, casa propia y todo lo que un buen trabajo y una buena educación pueden dar. Sin embargo, de un momento a otro, las cosas cambiaron; en el país hubo cambios políticos y económicos importantes.

Y durante esos procesos, algunas empresas cerraron, otras despidieron personal, otras trataron de subsistir en medio de los cambios que se generaban. Pero la empresa donde yo estaba cerró, y me tocó comenzar a buscar un nuevo empleo.

Así comencé a trabajar en el nuevo gobierno, y en el trabajo apliqué todo lo que había aprendido en la empresa privada, y eso me llevó a subir pronto de cargo en cargo dentro de la estructura del área donde trabajaba, y de verdad me sentía muy bien, tanto con el trabajo como con el impacto social que este estaba realizando en las áreas donde yo estaba asignado.

Pero, en otro cambio de la vida, el presidente murió, y en ese momento entraron muchas personas a hacer una nueva administración. En medio de esos cambios, me tocó ser el gerente general en mi área de una de las empresas más importantes del Estado.

Y después de estar en ese cargo durante un año, hubo otro cambio de administración, y el nuevo presidente de la empresa quería hacer unas inversiones indebidas, con la idea de tomar el dinero en un acto de corrupción, pero no podía hacerlo, ya que necesitaba que mi gerencia le diera el visto bueno y la aprobación al proyecto.

Y recuerdo que me ofrecieron una vicepresidencia sectorial si yo firmaba y apoyaba el proyecto a través de un informe. Sin embargo, ante la oferta de dinero y el cargo que me ofrecieron, tuve que rechazarlo, por ética personal y profesional.

Y el haber rechazado ese cargo y ese dinero no solo me costó el trabajo, sino que también fui colocado en una lista negra, donde se me han cerrado todas las oportunidades laborales. Sin embargo, es un precio que tuve que pagar, y estoy contento de haberlo hecho, ya que así mantuve mi honestidad, mi profesionalismo y mi ética personal intacta.

One of the most interesting things that happened to me in the workplace was to see the enormous effort that one had to make to earn a promotion in private company. It was necessary to study, be punctual, fulfill the work, attend the internal courses and give the best of himself, to be an exemplary worker and to be taken into account by superiors.

And really, the private company was a good school, especially in areas such as responsibility, respect and love of work. That school was fundamental for me, and it helped me a lot both in the work and academic field, the teachings received from my first job.

I remember that, after several years of having started in the working world, I was able to finish my university degree, and that made me feel very happy, because all the work effort, the university degree, the master's degree, I had achieved everything by my own effort and I had paid for it with my work.

And really, that effort had been worthwhile; I had a good job, a stable economic income, private insurance, my own house and everything that a good job and a good education can give. However, from one moment to another, things changed; there were important political and economic changes in the country.

And during those processes, some companies closed, others laid off staff, others tried to survive in the midst of the changes that were being generated. But the company where I was closed, and I had to start looking for a new job.

So I started working in the new government, and at work I applied everything I had learned in the private company, and that led me to soon rise from position to position within the structure of the area where I worked, and I really felt very good, both with the work and with the social impact that it was making in the areas where I was assigned.

But, in another change of life, the president died, and at that moment many people came in to make a new administration. In the midst of these changes, I had to become the general manager in my area of one of the most important companies in the State.

And after being in that position for a year, there was another change of administration, and the new president of the company wanted to make some improper investments, with the idea of taking the money in an act of corruption, but he could not do it, since he needed my management to give the approval and approval to the project.

And I remember that they offered me a sectoral vice presidency if I signed and supported the project through a report. However, faced with the offer of money and the position they offered me, I had to reject it, for personal and professional ethics.

And having rejected that position and that money not only cost me my job, but I was also placed on a blacklist, where all job opportunities have been closed to me.

However, it's a price I had to pay, and I'm glad I did, as it kept my honesty, my professionalism and my personal ethics intact.
