Pront: No es una gran posición.

En estos días, cuando veo la locura que se está presentando a nivel económico y geopolítico en el mundo, me recuerdo mucho de la época en la que trabajaba en el ministerio público y la actitud que tenían algunos funcionarios de alta gerencia hacia los trabajadores y hacia algunas personas que iban al ministerio a resolver problemas.

Ahora que veo la actitud tan arrogante y excluyente de los líderes del imperio estadounidense, me recuerdo mucho de una señora que trabajaba en el ministerio y que además era miembro del sindicato.

Y justo hoy, cuando me iba a sentar a escribir, vi una entrevista que le realizaron al Secretario de Estado estadounidense sobre la situación de Irán y pude ver el enorme desprecio que había en la actitud y la postura de este funcionario, y al ver la respuesta de Irán, me acordé mucho de la señora sindicalista del ministerio.

Recuerdo que en aquellos momentos había problemas en el ministerio, ya que todos los trabajadores estábamos molestos por los bajos sueldos y por el maltrato que recibían muchos trabajadores por parte de la gerencia media y de un grupo de personas que funcionaban como una especie de policía política, que eran los miembros del Frente Francisco de Miranda.

Y cuando ya la situación había llegado a un momento culminante, donde el sindicato había decidido que si no se recibía respuesta nos íbamos a paro, los trabajadores vimos cómo, en medio de esa enorme presión, el ministro cedió y envió a una comisión a discutir con el sindicato.

El sindicato, que estaba dividido entre los seguidores del gobierno que hacían lo que decía el partido y el sindicato de trabajadores no ligados al partido, entró a la reunión con los representantes del ministro, y en esa situación, los verdaderos representantes de los trabajadores tuvieron que enfrentar a los representantes de la institución y a sus sindicalistas.

Y cuando la presión se hizo muy fuerte en la mesa, y cuando el ala ministerial estaba tratando de imponer un acuerdo impuesto por el partido y el ministro, recuerdo mucho que la señora María salió de la reunión y desde las escaleras del segundo piso le dijo a los trabajadores: “Estamos siendo muy presionados por la comisión del ministro, por la gente del Frente Francisco de Miranda y por los sindicalistas traidores; no es una gran posición en la que estamos. Lo que le estamos exigiendo al ministerio es el cumplimiento de lo pedido por ustedes los trabajadores en las diferentes asambleas. Ellos no pueden doblegarnos en la discusión y, si ustedes nos apoyan, tampoco podrán hacerlo en la práctica Ustedes están dispuestos a ir al paro si el sindicato llama a parar las actividades”.

Recuerdo que todos los presentes, empleados y obreros, empezamos a gritar: “Paro, paro, derechos y reivindicaciones o paro”.

Al final, la posición de debilidad, debido a la minoría que tenía el sindicato en la mesa, fue vencida por la movilización y la postura de los trabajadores presentes, y pude ver cómo el sindicato ganó esa pelea y los trabajadores obtuvimos lo que exigíamos a través de nuestro sindicato.

Y aunque en el tiempo, años después, no se pudieron mantener las conquistas debido a situaciones que se presentaron posteriormente, en ese momento logramos tener una victoria y vencer a los líderes autoritarios y pedantes que estaban en la dirección del ministerio.

These days, when I see the madness that is occurring economically and geopolitically in the world, I am reminded a lot of the time when I worked in the public ministry and the attitude that some senior management officials had towards workers and towards some people who went to the ministry to solve problems.

Now that I see the arrogant and exclusionary attitude of the leaders of the American empire, I am reminded a lot of a lady who worked in the ministry and was also a member of the trade union.

And just today, when I was going to sit down to write, I saw an interview that was conducted with the American Secretary of State about the situation in Iran and I could see the enormous contempt that there was in the attitude and stance of this official, and when I saw Iran's response, I was very reminded of the unionist lady from the ministry.

I remember that at that time there were problems in the ministry, since all of us workers were upset about the low salaries and the mistreatment that many workers received from the middle management and a group of people who functioned as a kind of political police, which were the members of the Francisco de Miranda Front.

And when the situation had already reached a climax, where the union had decided that if no response was received we were going to strike, the workers saw how, in the midst of that enormous pressure, the minister gave in and sent a commission to discuss with the union.

The union, which was divided between the followers of the government who did what the party said and the workers' union not linked to the party, entered the meeting with the representatives of the minister, and in that situation, the real representatives of the workers had to face the representatives of the institution and their trade unionists.

And when the pressure became very strong at the table, and when the ministerial wing was trying to impose an agreement imposed by the party and the minister, I remember very much that Mrs. Maria came out of the meeting and from the stairs of the second floor told the workers: “We are being very pressured by the minister's commission, by the people of the Francisco de Miranda Front and by the traitorous trade unionists; it is not a great position we are in. What we are demanding from the ministry is the fulfillment of what the workers asked for in the different assemblies. They cannot bend us in the discussion and, if you support us, they will not be able to do it in practice either. You are ready to go on strike if the union calls for a halt to activities.”

I remember that all those present, employees and workers, started shouting: "Strike, strike, rights and demands or strike".

In the end, the position of weakness, due to the minority that the union had at the table, was defeated by the mobilization and the position of the workers present, and I could see how the union won that fight and the workers got what we demanded through our union.

And although in time, years later, the conquests could not be maintained due to situations that arose later, at that moment we managed to have a victory and overcome the authoritarian and pedantic leaders who were in the direction of the ministry.
